My daughter bought me an airbrush for Father’s Day… so I thought I’d try it out on a big ol bluegill I got a few months back ( I posted on Tman). It’s not the best
But I don’t think it’s horrible like my previous attempts.

You can save yourself a lot of aggravation and time by taking a few day course with real fish taxidermist. They;re out there if you look.

Post a pic of the bluegill when you caught it for comparison.

absolutely hideous. Have you thought of getting a job in which you actually have a career? You were asking for prayers not long ago due to physical ailments, yet, you continue to post quasi taxidermy pics, fishing pics and so forth. If you have some sort of disability it isnt evident based on your posts here. If you have filed for disability, just know, all of this is being collected to sideline your claim. perhaps going dormant for a while will help whatever you seek as an outcome.

You’re getting there. A little to much green shading. Bluegills are cheap and easy practice .

I am limited as to what I can and cannot do,, some days are better than others.. perhaps you would like to see the pictures of my mri which shows my spinal cord being compressed….or how about I take a picture of the doctors report on the findings?Not all nuerosurgeons want to cut until they absolutely have to,,,cervical spinal fusion with lamenectomy isn’t a fix all. , maybe you should educate yourself on cervical stenosis…I have improved greatly from where I was November-December. Several months of physical therapy has helped me tremendously.I DO NOT intend to be on disability… and I hope to be back to work before too much longer . I am extremely insulted by your comment and insinuations… I have worked my entire life…HARD PHYSICAL LABOR!! I hung and finished drywall for 25years until my shoulder blew out… I had to go work at a Walmart because it was a little easier on me..it was a little demeaning,BUT I WAS WORKING!when the pain in my neck became worse.. I tried pushing through it,,, it was when my fingers became numb and I could barely lift my arms,I knew something was wrong. That’s when my doctor ordered the MRI s and made the diagnosis. Do you know how embarrassing it is to have to get help from your son in law to open up the radiator cap because you can’t??? Especially when you’re used to setting 220s by hand?This is the longest I’ve ever been off my feet… the depression I was going through last year because I couldn’t work about did me in… I came VERY VERY close to throwing in the towel. I thought my life as I knew it was over. I’m thankful that there were folks who helped me overcome my mental hurdles. It was the coaching that got me out of the house and I started feeling better about myself .I want to dig ginseng again, but there’s no way I’m gonna be able to walk very far,,yet,,, the tree with the all the oyster mushrooms was behind the local cemetery so it wasn’t very far to walk….i fish at the spillway where I don’t have very far to walk from my vehicle to where I can fish. I’m getting better from where I was last year,,I’m not gonna curl up and let my demons win , I give GOD credit.. i have the feeling back in my fingers and I can lift my arms again …I Am nowhere near 100 percent… but I’m getting stronger… I’m trying my best to keep my reply to you as civil as I can,, because I enjoy this forum and do not want to be booted permanently for the stronger language that I’m refraining from using. You sir, are exactly how I used to be,,, I lacked empathy,, “why can’t he work? He looks okay to me “ we don’t always know what someone else’s struggle is.since my injury/ medical issues began,,,, GOD showed me empathy,,, he put me into someone else’s shoes.

Ok it’s ok but not good. My suggestion is stop OVER FLAREING . Gills fins mouth bluegill don’t swim around with mouth wide open. Also get you a color stencil kit for each species you are painting. It covers the fish except where it goes on the fish Green
Orange
Black
Brown ect After you get used to it you can stop using stencil

Been in your shoes. BIG ADJUSTMENTS when your used to picking up anything in your shop. Chin up you will find something you can do to take up your time. It will come into your life when you least expect it

I think fish are the hardest to taxi.hard to hide stuff.
The more you do the better you get-like anything else.

I have taxied a few birds. One of them turned out very nice. I wouldn't dream of attempting to do a fish. Once its on the board, its a blank canvas. Each scale on a fish is single, complex picture. I don't know how the pros do it.
Don't listen to anyone known to suck. Paint some more fish. Those pros all started where you are now.

Furthermore, disability checks are for quitters. You ain't quit yet.

Practice makes perfect so keep doing it. Don't let anyone bring you down. There's always someone who's gonna find fault with everything anyone else does and usually those are the people who haven't done anything.

If your enjoying it keep on working away at it. I always thought it would be cool to learn how to taxidermy stuff.

There's plenty of bluegill to catch and practice on. You should get better with practice. No one ever started as a master taxidermist.

There is actually a pretty good oddities market for bad and strange looking taxidermy. I have little doubt you could sell the ones that don't come out well to recoup your costs. Intentionally, garishly painted fish would probably sell. I've seen some pretty rough taxidermy sell at auction for surprisingly good money.

As soon as you pull the fish from the water, take some good pictures for references and try to paint the taxidermied fish to look just like them.
