Got a box of archery stuff from a yard sell. I just wanted the box. Found this in the bottom. May not even be archery related? All I can figure is some kind of press but there's no way to lock it? Anyone know? Thanks

It's a device that was used with older compound bows that had a separate string attached to the cable by means of a cable teardrop end. This device hooked on either end of the cable teardrop ends and you attempted to draw the bow just enough to get slack in the string. The slider bar allowed the device to hold the position of the cable allowing you to remove the string and replace string without having to put the entire bow in a bow press.

Thanks. Makes sense. I always had to get someone to put the new string on while I drew the bow a bit. Didn't know I had the option. Lol. I shoot traditional for past 30 years, but I still have my Pearson renegade with teardrops so I guess I'll hang on to this thing. Thanks folks
