No, not the kind you get sentenced to for crimes. There’s a farming family in my home town that owns quite a bit of good hay ground. Nicest people you’d ever meet. Every year for as long as I can remember they set aside 20ish acres to put into sweet corn, and when it’s ready to pick they put the word out around town and anyone and everyone is welcome to show up and pick as much as they want for free. I’m sure it costs them a pretty penny to plant and grow out the corn, and they never ask a single thing in return. I’ve always thought that if everyone who was able did something like that for their communities our world would be a better place. I hope to be in a place financially to do something like that someday.

That sounds nice. Everybody probably likes them except for the poor local farmers trying to sell sweet corn.
 Keith
He is the only local farmer growing corn of any kind. The cash crop here is alfalfa hay, other than what he plants for the community there isn’t a another corn field within 200 miles, so nobody but the big box grocery store is losing money. Food crops just are not grown here, with the exception of one town 130 miles from here grows cantaloupes. Other than that it’s alfalfa and a little wheat hay.

That's a great idea! I know it may flood the local market but it's their choice. Big industries flood the market from time to time. Maybe not sweet corn but other stuff.
 wanna be goat farmer.

That works when everybody understands the blessing. There are some that would load up and be selling it the next town over. A high probability they are related to a lawyer or an insurance salesman if they aren’t one themselves. lol

We encourage people to come and pick apples and chokecherries to help keep the grizzly bears away, but they just keep coming,

My wife and her mom go to a place like that around here to dig potatoes in the fall. I thought it was awful nice that they do that.Used to be a large vegetable farm near where I live that grew tons and tons of potato’s as well as other vegetables, the good ones would get shipped for processing down in the cities the others that didn’t look so nice where placed in a pile near the road for whoever wanted them just needed to take what they wanted, some years there was a 2 car garage size pile of taters and another of carrots and other vegetables

Northern Nevada must not have any raccoons. I have caught exactly one raccoon in 20 years of trapping here, and nobody believed it until I showed it to them lol. No, there are not many raccoons here.

Nope, never seen a single possum round here, and I’d like to keep it that way!
