Dick's has been phasing out guns and ammo for a while. The news today from Yahoo Finance has a bit of irony.

"Dicks's Sporting Goods (DKS) stock tumbled more than 20% Tuesday morning after the sporting goods retailer said organized retail crime has cut into its profits.

"Our Q2 profitability was short of our expectations due in large part to the impact of elevated inventory shrink, an increasingly serious issue impacting many retailers," Dick's CEO Lauren Hobart said in the company's second quarter earnings release before the bell on Tuesday."

Dick's seems to be constantly reminding us how/why they got their name!

my son has a friend who works at Dick's a few shifts a month , took the job in college and stays to keep his employee discount on fishing stuff he fished the bass team in college.

Madison west side one of the first cold days in fall the homeless will mob the place all put on north-face or similar high end coats and rush the door

they can loose a LOT of merchandise in a few minutes

they know a couple might get caught but 30 will get away

those that get caught get a bed for the night

he works there and isn't much of a fan , completely disagrees with all their politics , but he took the job years ago and gives most of his shifts to co-workers so they get the shifts they want and he takes sometimes only 2-3 month has a day job and basically turns his few hours there into fishing gear. they apparently have good employee prices where some stores don't.

I very seldom go in a Dicks last time I went there was probably 8-10 years ago to buy roller skates for my youngest , was one of the only places around that sold them.

their policies and politics lead to their losses

Dicks will go down the same death spiral as Abercrombie & Fitch and Gander Mtn. When they no longer carry what sportsmen want they are in competition with Walmart and lose.

Knowingly anyway. While I try it's unavailable. Suer I can not shop at some stores or not buy some companies products what I know about is just the tip of the iceberg about what companies donate to what. That would be more than a full time job for several people to try to keep up with.

And let's not forget to bury out heads in the sand about what our 491ks and other retirement investment funds are investing in.
So try as I may I have to admit I'm sure I unwilling/blindly support some companies that are against what I believe in.

Same here. I stopped shopping at Target when they left their rest rooms and changing rooms open to any gender.
Dick's when they stopped selling guns and ammo.

The first bottles of Coca Cola contained 3.5 grams of cocaine. That's how our grandparents were able to walk to school uphill both ways in the snow.

I quit stepping foot in those stores after they pulled AR's from the shelves. I found out last year that Dick's also owns and operates Field and Stream stores after a surreal visit to one of those stores in Ohio... which was enough to turn me out of there forever too.

Just happy to be here.

I can't say the same. I did go in one to try some waders on and see if they fit before ordering them off line somewhere else. They were the only place that had them in stock to try out. It's a good thing I did becuse I'm short at 5'8" and a lot of waders have legs to long for me and the crouch is closer to my knees than where it should be. They didn't fit so it saved me the hassle of ordering geting them shipped and sending them back and watching for the refund.

I that's the only time I have been in there since they pulled AR 15s off the shelf. And I was not and have not spent a dime in there.

I got my Mossberg 500 there many years ago. These places keep putting themselves out of business. Like the Cable TV industry. I don't feel the least bit sorry for them.
