Just set a couple of snap traps along its pathway along the wall. Put the traps perpendicular to the wall. If it's not staying close to the wall just use some boxes as drift fencing to guide it into the traps, by the wall.
Keith I'd recommend a .22, Long Rifle or Magnum. Just have to catch him sitting still for a few seconds

Years ago I posted my tribulations over catching a mouse I named Einstein. I never did catch him, though I tried every trap and trick suggested here.
But maybe that was on a prior incarnation of the forum.
Good luck.

I am supposed to be a trapper and can't even catch a mouse. I have seen him go from the kitchen to the den 3 times and me nor the cat, who catches mice all the time outside, can't get him. He won't eat cheese, peanut butter or cat food and he won't step in a glue trap. Confusing..... Tie a little piece of bacon to the pan everything likes bacon works for me

If peanut butter doesn't work try some melted chocolate on the pan..read it somewhere and tried it, it works and doesn't go bad or dry out. It sure does, unfortunately for me there was a big pan of homemade fudge involved in the learning process.

I put a few drops of chocolate syrup in that bait pocket of the yellow pans. It will harden up and is almost a permanent bait. will eventually need rebaited if you don't check regularly.
