Heat index 117 temp 101. Its very dangerous.

We start football in August…hottest month of the year.
We start baseball in February…coldest month of the year.
We take blankets and they serve coffee and hot chocolate at the baseball games.
We wear shorts and flip flops while drinking cold Gatorade and eating boiled peanuts at the football games.

And no, this has nothing to do with any climate change, been this way for my 55 years of life.

Glad they are smart enough to call off the games. No sense in risking it in this type of heat. You are right. It is dangerous. I feel bad for most folks who have to be out working in it.

grandson played junior varsity last night I thought maybe they would of called it off but they didn't. wasn't terrible siitting in the stands but I don't think I would of wanted to be out there playing. they won 22 to 6 . wife sat in the truck with the air on from time to time.

My little brother (adopted) passed out today on the job. Mom called me from the ER she was hard to understand but said heat stroke. They admitted him something about kidney damage. But he was up walking around in picture she sent me.

He runs a roofing crew. Now he is not the smartest kid always making poor choices but he tries hard. He can't honestly help it between genetics and drugs his mom did when pregnant. Roofing is definitely going to be the best job he will ever hold . To bad now he will likely have more problems working in the heat than before.

Summer is hot got to take care of yourself and know what to watch for. I used to lay a lot of steel decki g in summers and thought I knew what hot was. Then I got a job in the aluminum smelter and learned what real hot is. He should never had let himself get that hot. Darn kid.

Running an electric crew I had two guys go down on me through the years from heatstroke. One was outside in the sun and the other was in a glass high-rise with no ventilation or air conditioning- was probably 120+ in there. Both of these were skinny guys without an ounce of fat on either one of them. And both had access to all the cold water they wanted.
It seems the real skinny or the real heavy guys are the ones it affects the most.

My brother is definitely Tall and skinny. But I worked with a skinny guy in the smelter and that crazy nut packed around a steaming jug like everyone else keeps iced drinks in full of coffee and was fine. The nurses that come around checking in the guys minds were blown. He did that for years. You never saw him far from hot coffee.

I worked construction in the 80's, wasn't any heat index back then, dragging hot tin across top of chicken house's in middle of the day, started the day off hung over from the fith of early times or whatever was available from the boot legger the night before, lol. Had a 20 year old over heat on me last summer hog trapping, they keep telling me i need to drink water but they seem to be the one's falling out, think winston lights and pepsi is the trick to working in extreme heat, lol

They delaying games here till 7:30 in the evenings due to heat. Lazy wimpy kids now days can't stand much so I understand.

The last 30 years of my working days was in a factory. No air-conditioning, lousy air to breath and always hot in the summer.
16 of those years were in the forge/heat treat area. Average temp this time of the years 108 or slightly above. Lost an average of 9 pounds a during a shift, drinking warm water
like a fish around the clock. Hard boarded a lot of good men out of there over the years due to heat stress.

Typical August day in Mississippi. I'll be out working 11 hour shifts in the same temps for the next two days.

It used to be typical here, but this Summer has actually seemed cooler. We will hit our hottest temps of the year this weekend. 102 and heat index around 115 or so. Don’t think we’ve hit triple digits all Summer, it the heat index has been over 100 all Summer.
