One of my favorite all time movies, which had some really funny scenes is: "Secondhand Lions " with Robert Duvall and Michael Caine. I think I have seen it 6 times and could watch it another 6 times. Came out in 2003.
  Garry- I agree, that's a great one!

Oh Brother Where Art Tho and the Grumpy Old Men movies. They both have great sound tracks to. I play the Soggy Bottom Boys purdy loud and the scene with Walter Mathau (Sp?) scrubbing up for his date with the I'm Too Sexy song is basically hysterical.
Wild America is funny too. I know Marty is an anti, but his TV series definitely helped me to become a better trapper and hunter. ^^^^ What Lefty said.

Airplane, any of The Naked Gun movies and Robin Hood, Men on Tights. Airplane is without a doubt, the funniest movie ever made!

As dark as that movie is, there are some subtle humorous moments in that film which cracked me up. I have always been tickled by subtle humor way more than in-you-face type of humor. Good call!

The penultimate American comedy has to be Blazing Saddles. But I'll take anything by Mel Brooks, that guy is a comedic genius that doesn't pull his punches.
I don't follow movies but do follow actors.
Richard Pryor, that guy let it all hang out. Leslie Neilson, made being a WASP funny. Peter Sellers, deeply crafted characters that were hilarious without even trying. Could not agree more with your statement about Peter sellers!!
