When I lived in Wisconsin I ate the same as Ido in WV. Deer Steak, Eggs over Easy, Taters (Home Fries) Gravy and Toast. Usually Diet Sweet Tea to wash it down. BTW, I do not like Grits or LiverMush!!!

God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.

True. Sikeston might as well be Paragould Arkansas or Western Tennessee. Flatland. Brown dirty rivers. Gumbo mud.
You go west of Popular Bluff and you get up into the Ozark Hills. A lot different.

That's the best post you've made in a while Charles!

I was raised on grits for breakfast.....with a soft scrambled egg or 2 mixed in em and crispy bacon crushed and sprinkled over the top.

The best breakfast beer is Sam Adam's October fest. Goes great with fresh eggs, sausage and toast.

Wolfie , you said miles and miles of nothing but corn

corn all by it's self is a desert , very little wildlife

you also hit us on a hot week , the road kill will move when it gets a little cooler and the corn is finished

I took the wife to an outdoor concert last Thursday and I was wearing a sweatshirt , steady wind and it was 59 after the sun set when we got back to the car. Today will be the hottest day of the year for us. when you can wait out the heat like that most things do.

if you did see any road kill you would have seen it near creeks and places where there is a little woods or at least a fence line on each side

in the heat racoons will be catching a breeze sleeping in the tree tops and sticking to the creeks and rivers primarily

mid to late September or early October when the corn browns up and nights turn cool the movement will be on and if there is the traffic there will be road kill at near every cross over.

at least that is the case here in my part of the Midwest

Had a guy from MO Ozarks tell me they used to do an all night, road kill road trip each fall. Four of them would buy a case of beer........then set off down the road. When they came to some road kill, would jump out and either put flagging tape on it or toss it in the ditch. Kept going until the beer ran out, at which time, they bought a 2nd case, then turned around to head back home. Any road kill they found that didn't have tape on it was fresh, so tossed that in the back of the truck. Dressed it all when they got home, then had a big BBQ road kill party.

I don't think he was kidding.

never to that extreme nor with beer , but I have gone out to check traps and come back on the same road with a fresh deer laying there melting into the snow. that one had a broken neck and was positively the cleanest road kill I have ever picked up.

I have been headed to farm &fleet and seen he cop writing up the car collision and stopped and picked it up on the way back after the cop had left

the gut gets broken so the gutless method take the meat off without opening the cavity at all you can get a lot of meat off. and let the tenderloins go.
it does need to be decently cool or no thanks

Well, maybe. It is horrible over Cherrio's®, though.

we used to eat at a Greek place I forget the name of the breakfast I ordered but it came with a beer

I want to say maybe the Gyro Omelet it was covered in chees with a pile of hash browns with peppers cut up in the hash browns

beer and eggs is always a great way to start a day
