I hired two felons as new miners. The first, he robbed a bank, and somehow did ten years at Lewisburg. He lasted about two years, got fired for missing work / being late. The second stole all his father’s guns, sold them. Was a drug user. Did three years. He was still working there when I retired ten years ago.

Not allowed where I worked. Felons are not allowed to handle explosives. Now there are some lawyers I would like to hire. They are the only ones DUMB enough to hold them while we set them off!!!

Of course I would hire a felon. I'd treat him or her the same as anyone else do my due diligence background check and if something particularly nasty comes up go from there. Certain crimes are beyond the pale in my book while others are just the risks of living in today's world. But most important current behavior and attitude matters.

But then again I ain't hiring because employees in general are a PIA.

But in my opinion there should never be lifetime felons. Either a full citizens with full rights or incarcerated no in between. Either you have fully paid your debt or you're to dangerous to be free.

Yes, there's plenty of felons with a much cleaner slate then I have. Truth be told we've all probably committed a
felony or multiple felonies with out being convinced. Or knowing we had committed one.

Felonies are excuses to take your firearms, that's why everything is a felony today.

Depends I have a friend who is a convicted felon heck of a carpenter, got drunk as a young man and decided to break the store windows on main street in a small town. He did his time and paid restitution for all of the damage. Stupid yes but one of the hardest working guys I know and would trust him alone with a stack of hundred dollar bills , I can’t say the same for my god fearing brother in law

Here in SD you can get a charge taken off of your record but it’s only a 1 time deal after conditions have been completed.

No,just asking for trouble and taking an unnecessary risk.

Sure. I didn't hire her but one of people I manage at work is a felon and a good employee. Got a drug rap for being in the car when her ex boyfriend was dealing. She's worked there a year and half, is never late, and only occasionally misses work.

We had a machinist that worked in a job shop with us years ago that had a felony conviction. Was the best TIG welder we ever had and a super good CNC machinist.
