I ran my baits today and had the coon on one of them. That is it but geez are the acorns sure falling fast. It is very dry here too.

What are you using for bait 160?

Cookies, granola, sweet candies, pastries and nuts. I am using two different sweet (strong) commercial lures near the bait too. I actually think it is common in this immediate area for the bears to move South about 6-8 miles where there are more oaks and natural food. Then again, I don't know squat about bears or baiting them.

My bear activity has slowed in the last 7 days, got one that shows up every other day or so, had almost daily activity all of July and first 3 weeks of August. Acorns dropping here and lots of mushrooms. I'm in zone E in Wisconsin in a county that I'm guessing is 90% agriculture land.

Hmm. Sounds like a decent bait recipe you have.
Perhaps there are others baiting the same area?

If you have time, perhaps wait a couple weeks and retry.
Most that draw tags are done hunting after the first week.

Thanks. As I recall season goes through September, so I am in no rush. I would rather shoot one later than earlier anyway. About the last day off season at 37 degrees would be ideal.

I'm guessing Bernie's tired from baiting. Its exhausting work if bears are hammering a bunch of baits.

Unreal day today. I have gone through 21 55-gallon barrels of trail mix and 5 chest freezers full of breads and pastries with no end in sight. Some 30-gallon barrels are cleaned out within hours of when we put them out. Unreal.

Natural foods must be getting sparse ?

You need to sit by that bait asap when you bailt.

Two more baits that were slow just blew up in the last couple days so we added a couple more ladder stands today. There are some baits were are visiting every day now and adding 5 pails of bait, they are being cleaned out daily.

7 hunters coming this weekend I really hope we do not have 7 dead bear the first night but we might LOL.

I guess I know where all the bears from here went. I can't even get the coon to come back anymore.

Being as warm as is forecasted, I'd get hunters in a stand a bit earlier then normal..

Interesting suggestion. Seems to me when it's warm we don't see as much activity until the last half hour of daylight. Curious why you say that.

Seen piles of bears shot very soon after getting people into a stand on real hot days.
Especially if mosquitoes are horrible.

For years, I've noticed /seen lots of bear mid day out cruising across wide open fields when Temps are in the 90*s.

Can't say why, just what I've seen..
