I've got a 2017 ram ecodiesel that I hardly ever use. I bought it new, it has 64,000 miles, and completely stock. I'm gonna donate my old truck to my son in laws new construction buisness so this ram is my new woods truck. I kind of know what I want but I don't. I see these trucks with a slight lift and bigger tires that I want mine to look like but no idea how to get there. Lol. Leveling kit won't do I don't think. Maybe 4" lift"? If anyone has a picture of their truck and what lift/tire mods they made, that would help me alot! You'd think there would be a web site to show what each m9d made your truck look like but I ain't found one. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Watch your driveline angles. Make sure pinion bearings still get lubed well.

Bigger, and I assume wider, tires are a pain in snow on pavement. You want to float in mud, but cut through snow to hard ground. I am tempted to run narrower tires on my truck in the winter.

You definitely get what you pay for in lift kits. Cheap ones are just that, cheap. There is a lot of geometry changes when you start messing with suspension.

There could also be braking issues spinning heavier meats.

And the gearing stuff could play hob with some computers.

And steering might be impacted as well.

Leave it stock and drive it as it was designed. My advice take it or leave it. Never understood jacking up a truck and increasing the associated risks of so many created problems out of vanity.

This. Some engineer got paid several thousands of dollars to figure out all those driveline and alignment angles, weight distribution, center of gravity, etc etc etc. A simple lift kit messes up too many things.

Don't listen to that crap. Build your truck how you want it. They are just jealous of you. laugh

A 2" lift can allow you to use some pretty big tires and not cause much issues with other parts like K Snow mentioned. You can get offset rims that will help with tires rubbing and provide a wider stance that not only looks good but increases stability. I'd check on a Dodge Forum and see just how big of tires you can get under a 2" lift. Spend the money on a good suspension lift kit so issues will be potentially less.

Don't listen to the nay sayers. If you do it right it will improve the truck for sure. Only downside is that the Mpg will go down a little with the bigger black things. But on a eco diesel you will probably still be ahead of the game of most folks

Let's go Brandon

I agree. Like politicians, you have to be careful how you word everything on here. There are a bunch of people here that don't post anything until they can twist someone's words around in an attempt to make them look stupid. It's the reason so few people respond and the reason why so many people type out replies and never hit post reply. smile

Had I said "Spend the money on a good suspension lift and you won't have troubles." some jackwad would jump right on that with the story of his dad's, nephew's, stepmom's brother that put on a high dollar lift and all the tires flew off, the truck flew in a creek and killed a bus load of special need kayakers. crazy

Don't count me among the naysayers.

Just pointing out some considerations of a well thought out lift. Like everything in life there are pros and cons and tradeoffs. Done well you get good results, done poorly you could die. But that's life, ain't none of us getting out of here alive so enjoy yourself.

I ran a 4.5” fabtech lift with 35” tires on my Cummins. Dumped money in the motor which helped horsepower obviously but also mpg. I think I was averaging 18mpg with a heavy foot. I always hated buying new tires for that thing.

Kayakers probably needed killing anyway, lol.

If todays american engineers were worth a crap, we wouldnt have to buy Toyotas...! smile

Remember, taller tires change your final gear ratio. Too steep, and you kill mileage and acceleration. May even cause overheating on much older models.

I would do a good bit of research on your model and driveline. It's not always as simple as taller tires as this change means changing that which in turn requires another change and before you know it, you're chasing rabbits.

But since lifts are a common and popular thing I'm sure there are more than a few that have done it already so I'm sure there's a good bit of reading to be had online.

I've been doing just that on a project I'm about to start.

Don’t do it to a daily driver
3rd complete front end on a dodge

Undicked Chevy with 489,000 and doesn’t get stuck

Just level it and go up a couple sizes on tires

It'll look good and still be usable

That's my plan I guess. Never thought narrow tires would be a benefit in snow/thawed ground? Guess I'll find out. I'll take a before and after pic if anyone else is interested. Thanks
