The one that came over us a few years ago was enough for me. I told the wife if this one changes course we’re leaving. I will not go through that again. I sent the family to my sons plantation he works at and everyone there stayed in the basement of the lodge. Never lost power or internet there, lol. It was about 4 hours of what a tornado must be like for me. We were without power for 6 days. Just ran necessities off a generator. It SUCKED!

By them not losing power where they were means they had commercial generators for the Lodge.

Thank God we moved back to WV!! I lived through two of them and never want to go through another. The worst part are the Looters. Where I lived we all stood outside of our homes with shotguns and took turns. At least our neighborhood was safe. No power and no cell service but we stood our ground.

God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.

Looks like he needs to drive a little further up the Gulf coast...maybe Keaton Beach. Just gonna brush by Cedar Key.

I'm waiting for it to start getting light enough to see so I can head to the beach and see how big the swells are from Franklin with is now a Cat. 4 at 145 mph, all the NOAA warning went off yesterday morning at 4 AM with warnings on dangerous shore breaks and rip tides. I just hope that big mamma jamma keeps going North and doesn't get anywhere close to land anywhere,
We have enough problems right now with the water temps in the Sounds are really high right now, We have had two local residents I know die from Vibro, the flesh eating bacteria in the last 30 days.

If Idalia crosses back out to the Atlantic and heads my way, the waters in the Pamlico Sound would be just like it was in the Gulf Stream. If it came ashore south of Cape Hatteras and came up the Pamlico it would put the entire barrier islands on the NE quadrant where the highest winds and storm surge would be. I was told 40 years ago by Mr. Maurice Peace who was the meterolgist at the weather radar station for NOAA in Buxton that in that situation a cat.1 hurricane would destroy every house on the barrier islands.

If you have trees near your house or vehicles, leave. Can’t remember the wind speeds here when it came but 70’s come to mind. Loss of trees and powerlines down was unreal. Luckily it been dry and the ground isn’t soaked here, so hopefully we get what they’re forecasting, 30mph winds.
Be safe!

Keep your head down and stay out of low lying areas. The water these things put down is unreal.

Get some rest while you can because you'll need it after it passes.

I have not seen anything yet about the storm surge predictions. The wind it’s self is bad but when it pushes walls of water that’s the deadly part. Even if it petered out to a tropical depression now before landfall it will still have the storm surge of a cat. 1 hurricane

Calling for 10-15 just east of landfall in the big bend area of the panhandle.
