I went to clear some paths today, so I could get some ladder stands placed. I have the acquired skill of ending up on top of a yellow jacket nest. I got lit up for sure. So, I built some bait stations similar to those from posts by Finster, a while back. While putting out the bait stations, I found another nest with my atv. So now I am at war with these vicious little vermin. I have enough termidor sc to kill them for miles around. So tomorrow, I will get to see how many are using the bait stations. In less than an hour, a few yellow jackets were hitting all four, that I built and placed this afternoon!

I do that also, but this terminates the nests I cannot find, before they find me. Oh, I have never lit the gas , as the fumes do them in! That could be fun though!

I am currently on a similar mission! I have read the previous threads and Zim and I set out in search of a 9% Fipronil solution locally. The hardware store had a few types of flea and tick meds, and I purchased this ZoGuard Plus for significantly less money than Frontline Plus with the same ingredients, including 9.8% Fipronil. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2023/08/full-4649-187270-zoguard_1024.jpg) After cutting open one of the containers I realized the liquid can be squeezed out in drops. I poured the chicken liquid off and mixed it with the chemicals, then poured it back and mixed it with the chicken. I went with the 1/4 teaspoon per can of chicken, which equals 7 drops. I set the can out where we can see it up on our deck. It's more than 10 feet off the ground where the girls cannot roam. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2023/08/full-4649-187271-chicken_1024.jpg) It took a full minute before the first yellow jacket arrived. The first one died in there. After that one, several have eaten from the trough, but I am concerned about the concentration. As Scuba mentioned, you need to get the concentration right so they live long enough to take it to the nest. It may be that the other chemical in the dog stuff makes it too toxic at that dosage. I'm ready to make adjustments as needed, but if no more die right in the chicken I'll stick with this. More updates to come...

Two dead in there. Quite a few more visitors. We'll bring it in after dark. I may make a more diluted version before I put it out in the morning.

Patch if you find just the odd one or wo dead at the bait, they may well be on their second or third trip to the nest and pegged out doing their job. if the concentration is to strong, you would find more dead ones at the bait station I would think. Proof is in the pudding though .... or in this case in the chicken. If none come after 24 hours tomorrow its mission accomplished.

Patrice, I don’t know about what you are using there, but the wasps do need to carry the meat to the nest, for total kills. If you need some of what I am using, let me know, and I will send you some in a lure bottle !

Can't believe the number of yellow jackets this year!

Proof is in the pudding though .... or in this case in the chicken. If none come after 24 hours tomorrow its mission accomplished. Good point. Maybe I shouldn't have backed down on dosage yet. I'll reevaluate later today and make adjustments. On another note... your auto correct feature changed Patrice to Patch? I kind of like that! Patrice, I don’t know about what you are using there, but the wasps do need to carry the meat to the nest, for total kills. If you need some of what I am using, let me know, and I will send you some in a lure bottle ! Hey, Gary. I'm not sure if you saw my photos and explanation, but it's a liquid I mixed with the chicken juice and then mixed that al back into the chicken for bait. My concern is that besides the 9.8% Fipronil, it also contains 8.8% (S)-Methoprene. I am trying to determine if I need to adjust the mixture to account for an additional pesticide. I am looking forward to your progress report. You are a guy who does a great job at everything you do, and I'm sure those yellow jackets don't stand a chance!

Sorry Patrice..... I am still of the opinion that they should have given the oversight of the auto correct place to someone other than Coonman. Yet here we are If things went ok, you should have no more visitors at the bait station by early evening.

Tlguy, check out Hrdtoflw's photo above when he started this thread. He made boxes to put out that the yellow jackets can get in but other critters cannot. According to Scuba, if we get this right, it should only take a day or so.

Hey Patrice, I did a bit of research on Methoprene. It appears, it is a chemical that affects the insects' ability to reproduce. I don't think it kills them directly. I need to see if we still have some flea/tick treatment left after our dog passed last fall. Need to kill me some yeller jackets, too.

I have never seen something dead reproduce. But the ingredient you are looking for to kill the yellow jackets is Friponil. I am sure no matter what name is on the flea drops that friponil is the active ingredient to kill the bugs on a dog. and its the stuff used to treat dirt in order to eliminate ground termites. So if you find something with 8 to 10% priponil in the solution , you are on a winner.

if that works I will be looking for the same stuff
was cleaning fish sunday and had a swarm of yellow jackets around me
found a nest in my eve over the front porch today , I have killed hundreds in traps and the bucket of bloody water but that is only diminishing the numbers slightly
that nest is getting the foaming wasp and hornet killer spray tonight after dark
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
