I put a leveling kit on my 2021 GMC Sierra. The tires were Goodyear Duratrac, 275/65 16. Not oversize for that truck. I added a 1.25” wheel spacer to kick the tire out flush with the wheel well, I like it much better. Just have everything installed properly and have her lined up when you’re done. And yes, post pics!

That's my plan I guess. Never thought narrow tires would be a benefit in snow/thawed ground? Guess I'll find out. I'll take a before and after pic if anyone else is interested. Thanks

Narrow tires, it's all about ground pressure. The weight of the vehicle on a smaller tire patch for more traction.

But it can bite you on soft ground like bottomless mud or soft sand.

You want wider for soft ground to float over it.

You can always air down skinny tires to go wide but no way to make wide ones skinny.

Plus skinny weighs less for less unsprung weight or wear and tear on suspension and steering.

Dont turn that poor truck into a mall crawler . Leave it stock and put taller skinnier tires on it. It will be safer, your drive train will last longer , you wont have to jump out of it/climb into it and things will be easier to reach out the tail gate ,etc, etc.

Not the same vehicle, but I went big on my Jeep. 3.5 inch lift and 37x13.5’s. It’s a light vehicle on big tires, so in the winter I’ll drop to about 3PSI and it will go just about anywhere until they close all the forest roads to wheeled vehicles in December.

It needed some driveline mods to make it work but I like it.

LR5 dud you change out to the lower gear ratio transfer case?
All the rage for Jeep over here.

Tall skinny tire talk reminds me of the old 390 high boy.
What a beast they were.

No, I’m going to regear but have been holding off on that because I’m not sure if I’m going to keep the axels or upgrade those too. So I’ve been rolling with the stock 410’s. In 4 low first gear it’s still pretty slow for crawling.

I have that T case here but not sure what all it fits.
I hoarded it because a family member had a full military.
dealership warrantee on a Jeep.
I was bummed when they traded it in.
I would have run it for ever.

Lol. Never meant to do that. I'm too old to be climbing up in a truck. I was thinking 4" tops. But I think I'll just add a 2" leveling kit to the front to hopefully escape any rubbing issues and go with biggest tire I can get away with. It's not a daily driver and I don't care about gas milage. I just want to get around the snow/thawing bean fields to catch coyotes.

Offset rims (or offsets behind the rims) help with rubbing issues, also I have used my angle grinder with a cut off wheel to cut the plastic trim or even the corner of the fender just a smidgen, if it rubs when turning sharp.

Sledge hammer and a torch. And you can run whatever you want. Ran 42 TSL Super Swampera on a old Toyota once with only 7 inchs of lift.

Lmao. Reminds me of my younger days! We used 3" steel pipe and all thread bolts to lift the body high as we needed for the biggest tires we could find in a junk yard! I had a c10 with 44's and always worried about hitting the mud holes too hard and the whole body/cab just shearing off! Lol. Good Ole days in backwoods of Alabama!
