Them's some big ol' bullets. Curious to know the twist in the .308 barrel? Standard 1in 10 or something faster? Velocity? Any lube or just paint? Powder coat replaces the need for lube.thinknof it as a polymer jacket that works the same way as a copper one...just , polymer lol. That being said I can ask real quick. 1680 is where he lives to run these .

Yes please, I'd like to know the twist. You ask about 30-30. Older Win 30-30s had a 1 in 12 twist. Marlins had 1 in 10. I don''t know what they're currently doing, haven't kept track; probably the same though. I don't know that you could generate enough velocity out of a 30-30 to get those big boys going fast enough with enough revs to stabilize at any distance.
Lots of folks shoot cast out of a .308. They have such a short neck, the lubed bullet always gets down in the powder chamber. Just one of my quirks, I never liked seating a lubed bullet down in the fire. You paint your bullets so that wouldn't be a problem. 30-06 doesn't have that problem with it's long neck. And a 30-30 wouldn't either with it's long neck.
Yeah, I'm kinda interested in those bullets. Wonder what they'd do out of a 30-06 with a healthy dose of 4895. Well from everyone I've talked to to cast bullets work a bit different and slower twist rates are generally better. Something about RapM threshold

Well from everyone I've talked to to cast bullets work a bit different and slower twist rates are generally better. Something about RapM threshold You got me there. Never heard of a RapM treshhold. A bullet (or any object) spinning on inertia has go make so many RPMs or it will loose it's stabilization. Cast or jacketed, they are both subject to the same laws. For a given bullet, a .223 needs a faster twist barrel than a 22 250 because the 22 250 is faster and has more RPM because of it's velocity. You may be thinking of muzzleloaders. Round ball muzzleloaders commonly have a much slower twist than muzzleloaders that shoot minnie balls or sabots. 1 in 66" is fairly common for round ball rifles while a 1 in 48 or even a 1 in 24" may be needed to stabilize the longer slower minnie. Without going into all the metalarley and all that that I've researched and all basically dude to leads nature it just cannot be spun as fast as a copper jackets bullet . Stuff on a movie leve happens and yeah just goes bad . Their a bit of a different animal that's why a lot of people who move from jacketed to cast or try glin up in velocity get problems. My .22 hornet is a prime example ideally that 1-12 twist I has would just be too slow for jackets 60gr bullets. But with a cast 63gr HP cast bullets it works perfectly. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2023/09/full-34110-187826-fb_img_1689108342150.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2023/09/full-34110-187829-ballistic_x_export_2023_07_11_15_07_58.510917.png) But I'm still an amateur at this stuff really here an explaintion from a guy that eveyone seems to listen to when he talks....though we seem to butt heads on some stuff ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2023/09/full-34110-187832-screenshot_20230903_010413_561.png) Also got to talk to guys who purpose build guns to shoot cast bullets as well as possible and they feel a out the same. I'll have to post more of that stuff when I get a better connection
