A bear hide can slip awful quick in temps like that. Pray for a speedy recovery and have ice and/or a cooler handy.

Well, it’s hunting season finally! Have a few bears hitting the bait but it’s almost all nocturnal except the little tiny guy. Only one in last night was the dandy and he arrived about 45mins after legal shooting. Planning to give this bait 2 nights and if nothing happens go hunt my other bait which has a couple 1 1/2 year olds coming in consistently along with a couple other now and thens. Trying to stay positive and keep it fun but I plan to shoot the first 100+ lb bear I see as time is at a premium right now and a little fresh meat in the freezer would be nice. My ol Savage 99C .308 is ready, if opportunity strikes I know it’s up to me to point her in the right direction so she can do her thing. Happy trapping and good luck in the bear stand everyone! Good Luck Scott and safe hunting. Get that hide off the bear quickly and wrap carcass in a old sheet and then into cooler or cut up and cover with ice in cooler. I can taste that bear already cyber that it... LOL

It is 86 degrees here right now so I didn't even go out. I may try the middle of next week when it cools off a little. Good luck Scott and shoot a big old boy.

82 was the high today,88,86 and 84 for the next three days,then it cools down to some 60's and low 70's.Guessing there are a few less bears walking around by now,good luck to everyone that is watching over a bait.

The bears I've shot the earliest was Sept 11,15 and 17th.Nothing wrong with waiting if you can,I try to fill my tag before the grouse hunters are out and about.

You joke. This little guy woke me up in the middle of the night climbing all over the grill. I spooked it and he hopped this gate. I got around the corner just in time to see him grab a bag of my grandkids dirty diapers and disappear over the bank. It was the cutest darn thing to witness. Absolutely fluid in his theft.

What is the opening day report? Who saw bears?

I saw a skunk and a deer on the walk out…that was it. Think I’m gonna break from my original plans and sit the stand with more daylight movement but smaller bears today. Gonna run and check the neighbors corn field today also and be sure they’re not pounding that but I’m sure if they were I would’ve heard about it. Happy trapping! ScottW

Just looked at a guide service in the north west no quota area,they went 13 for 20 yesterday.

No way,,, it was 90* yesterday.

At dusk?

I'm guessing a few were at dusk,but from their pictures I'd say 9 were shot with the sun fairly high,I know one of the guide's.We were 85 up there in Roseau and Kittson Co. yesterday.
