Fellow Snare Men.
I know there are plenty of posts and threads already on what to be „the best“ snare lock… Yet, I couldn’t clarify on my specific question so far:
Is there any other „relaxing lock“ for 1/8 cable than the washer lock?
At least I couldn’t find any. Plenty of choices for smaller cable diameters, but only one for 1/8?
I don’t find the washer lock fast enough and was wondering if there is really nothing else for 1/8 available when one wants „relaxing“.
Thank you.

Yes there is the 1/8 inch cam lock snare lock and I believe the old Thompson lock in the same cable size and a few others. Go to some of the trapping supply co. websites and check it out.

Thank you. Yet all of your suggestions are non-relaxing!
I am looking for a relaxing lock suitable for 1/8 cable that is faster than the washer lock!
Any suggestion on this?
Thank you.

The type of cable can add speed too IMO. Loaded 1x19 cable is faster than 7x7.

I don't see any other locks except the slim locks in 1/8" and it depends where you look or who's opinion you get if they are "relaxing" locks. They work in the same fashion as washer locks by relying on the burr on the hole to bite the cable to prevent them backing off. When set the way you are required to set cable restraints they will work in the same fashion as the washer locks. There for if the washer locks are "relaxing" locks, so are the the slim locks.

That said, as Marathon touched on, you can make your 1/8" snares with washer locks just as fast as any other locks by using the right cable and loading your snares properly.

Maybe these videos I made years ago will help with the loading....

On washer lock snares I like a loop on the end better than a sharp bend to avoid the snare binding while the lock slides...

@ Marathon: Thank you for the hint. Yes indeed, I‘ll will try the 1x19.
@ ~ADC~: Thank you for the videos and esp. the tip for „round“ bent!
