This heat cannot help to much. This week coming will be a good week for bear harvests. 20 degrees lower than now. Sharpen your knife hunters. That is what I am hoping.
I have nothing clever to put here.

I got nothing but we did finally get some rain tonight and cooler temps. I would think that should help me out.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

Thanks for an update.
When these folks are done, do you stop for the year? Yes I have seven hunters and then I am done. Going to Michigan where I have a bear tag for myself. Shot two more nice males last night, Sounds like I am doing way better than a lot of guides I am grateful for that.

Bear eat in the heat too, and warm is better than cold for activity on the baits. Bears seem to like the same weather we do. However this year was really extreme. I have never put hunters in the stands, or gone to the stand myself in 97 degrees. I believe it really did slow down the action. The cameras are showing more morning activity.

The cool temps today were nice and like Rick, I saw several flocks of geese but I haven't had a bear on either bait since the second day of baiting. At the rate I am going, I should have 4 coon that will field dress over 100 pounds by fall. Geez those things are pigs.
I have nothing clever to put here.

There are several 40 acres fields of standing sweet corn but no other hunters for several miles.

Guessing your bears you had on your bait are in the corn or under some oak tree if there's any within the 1 or 2,good luck, they live in those corn fields and make massive crop circles. That is where I suspect they are too. If I could get permission to hunt in one, stalking through the standing corn with an 870 and slugs could be a LOT of fun!

I've heard it for years and also used to say it myself... Acorns are dropping/ cornfield is to close. Yada Yada. If bears are around AND you have GOOD bait, they will be on that bait. They eat acorns/corn for them to naturally gain fat for the year. Yada gotta use GOODbait that will give them the same. Expensive but... I've had great luck around corn/ sunflower fields.

Apples are a staple in a bears diet around here, they'll gorge on them from now until they den. We have Apples everywhere this year but they're still hammering the bear that are hammering the baits. Sixty-two degrees and clear here right now. Doesn't get any better for bear movement. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2023/09/full-50853-188166-20230906_180521.jpg)
