We can camo up during archery. It’s still bloody dangerous though. The general rifle season never ends for some. Guys on quads are rolling the dice too…lol

Because with multiple seasons the state can sell more licenses, I reckon. We have a archery season, an expanded archery season, a rifle season and a muzzleloader season. Every one requires a separate license.

If rifle season was as long as archery it would greatly increase the harvest. Like over harvest. Plus rifle season puts a lot of pressure on the deer and they don't want that much pressure on them that long especially during rut.

So then cut down the archery season, right? lol I'm sure there's a balancing act. Last I looked in my state the archery success rate was only around 30%. Shortening it by a couple weeks probably wouldn't gain toy that much. Nor would it help the idea of not extending the hunting pressure on the deer. Kansas system is working good for the hunters and the deer so why change it.

How many LEGAL deer allowed in your area? . . . NOT CROP DAMAGE PEMITS! . . . PS, not including Bucks with extra "stamps" Maryland Region "B"

The reason they break up the days is something called opening day effect. If they just said go get ‘em! You’d have the woods full of people for a few weeks, and the deer would all get super pressured and go nocturnal. So, they break up openers and give different methods of take. Most firearms days are peak rut or around there, most not all. (Maryland).
Now, if you have an early muzzleloader, firearms, antlerless and then late muzzleloader and firearms season. It breaks the days up and gets the pressure more spread out so hunter success is increased.
Also, if it was a five month long do whatever you want type hunt, you’d have very few people hunting later in the season. They would get burnt out the first few weeks not seeing much and go on to other things.
That is what was explained to me once. He explained it a lot better, but that is usually the concept.

Why even have different weapon seasons? Why not just have 1 season for whatever length of time and any weapon you choose? It stimulates the economy if you have to buy all the bow nonsense and all the muzzleloader nonsense. Definitely about money. Been fighting special seasons for years here. So far, I'm the winner. I'll lose in the end, though.

Why even have different weapon seasons? Why not just have 1 season for whatever length of time and any weapon you choose? That's generally the way it is done down south. An early bow season, then muzzleloader, then rifle. Anything can be used during rifle, generally. Air rifle is the new one and most lump it in with bow.

I heard a guy say everyone is a deer biologist 2 weeks a year so one long season would stress out the average expert maybe. MO has a lot of seasons that cover several months for their deer season. SD deer seasons run several months also. Hunt them all or pick your poison it’s your choice.

Why even have different weapon seasons? Why not just have 1 season for whatever length of time and any weapon you choose? in WI the archery lobby is large and very vocal. so much of it is to make them happy they get mad about Xbow hunters taking "their deer also more license fees also gives time to chase ditch chickens while your waiting for gun deer season you also have the snowmobilers not wanting to share the woods with gun deer hunters they lobby against late doe seasons
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
