it's all about the money, they manage money not wildlife.

I really wish they would open KS rifle season 2 weeks earlier...by the 1st Wed in Dec, rut is well over.

Yes as mentioned the different weapons mean more money. When Ky implemented a crossbow season the amounts spent on equipment would be scary. Any crossbow worth carrying cost as much or even more than any gun I own. But I haven’t bought a long gun since 2016 and it was on sale .

In my area it’s one tag, can use it for archery, muzz or rifle season. Used to be 3 separate tags.

What is strange is that two neighboring states can have such differing seasons. S C deer opens in August for guns in some areas.

Can't wait till they create spear seasons. Stores will be selling high dollar spears made of the latest space age materials in any camouflage pattern that are scent free. smile

P.S. with optional Swarovski spear scopes and spear releases.

Because they powered that be are these days just coming up with arbitrary stuff and pandering to various groups just to show that they should get paid for doing something. It does not have to make sense ... in fact if things make sense , they are probably banned outright. A deer does not care if that thing that just punched a hole in its heart and lung is a broad head or a lump of coper or lead ... dead is dead.
Its also a great way to keep the infighting amongst hunters going. Archers complaining about how rifles and cross bows are unfair.... traditional front stuffing hunters say that anything that does not have a flint lock should not be in the woods. all sorts of crap going on just to mess with ones head. Personally i don't pay no minds to any of it and only hunt on my own property these days. Manage the wildlife on it the way it makes sense to me and has some logic to it.

Let's go Brandon

"Shall not comply" with morons who don't understand "shall not infringe."

Plus rifle season puts a lot of pressure on the deer and they don't want that much pressure on them that long especially during rut.

X2 but I'll speak from different views.

1) on my rez its any weapon all year most choose to use guns on the rez for many reasons. Archery hunting has the big disadvantage when rifle is used.
2) The pressure is less on big game during archery which gives every hunter better odds.
3) Ever do a late season public land hunt with any weapon? Late season big game might be very skiddish at the sight of headlights or the sound of a truck and will book it out of the area. Just depends on the pressure they had were before hand. That was the case with my daughters cow hunt a years back. Hundreds - over a thousand elk be calm & the second they saw a truck they were gone. We were often the first truck in during her early December hunt. Now imagine hunting with that much pressure but doing archery. Closest we got during shooting hours was 100 yards my daughter froze. The avg closest distance we would get is 300 yards.

Some archery hunts here have a 2 half season, meaning the same archery hunt in Sept is also valid in parts of January. Those are real fun because pressure is calming down and weather can be bad so most hunters and hikers don't go which means even better chances. I love hunting in fresh snow

I don't know ANY archery hunters that would like the woods crawling with hunters and/or armed city dipwads while they're out there! During the Mo gun deer season's any legal weapon is allowed, including Bows.
