I have found a very hard to find part for my car at a salvage yard. Problem is they say it’s 300 bucks to ship. I believe they said that was fedex. I checked with speedee and they don’t go to that zip code. The other problem is the part is in Utah and I’m in Illinois. Roughly 1500 miles. I called ups here local and honestly I don’t know how that company has gotten so big judging by the person I talked with yesterday. Was just wondering if anyone knew of a trucking or freight company that goes through that area regularly. Not sure of weight but guessing 50 to 60 pounds. It’s a skid plate for a fuel tank and about 40 inches long and 20 inches wide. I figure round trip gas would cost about 300 to 350 so shipping would still be the better option. It is in Cedar city Utah.

Don’t know but 300 sounds cheap enough you can’t drive there and back for that . I’m not being critical but sometimes you have to suck it up if it’s really important to yourself.

Does your junk yard have a 'puter link to other yards around the country? Most of the ones here do. Might consider contacting trucking co's. they might have a deal for small shipment stuff like yours where the driver will do it for a nominal fee, or maybe rail freight will work for you. I've heard that car delivery drivers will drive a vehicle across country and will take on small stuff and get it a lot closer to you. Good luck.

See if any one on Tman is from that area or traveling to that area to hunt or something like that.

I’ve had any number of Tman members help me out when I’ve needed something from point A to point B. Throw in a couple hundred bucks towards their gas and see what happens.

It’s worth a shot - posting on Tman doesn’t cost anything.

In fact, there is a Tman member in idaho that is helping me get out of big bind today!!

Anything over 50 lb, fed ex and Ups add extra $25. Plus shipping to a residential address is more than commercial.

I’ve thought about fabricating one myself but it’s kind of an odd shaped critter. The tank straps actually go over the tank and bolt to the skid plate and the plate bolts to the frame. I have tried junkyards around me and others nearby but they all have the same midwest rust rot as mine. Isuzu quit making these quite awhile ago. At first I wasn’t too concerned cause I don’t crawl over trees and rocks so didn’t really need a skid plate but after seeing it actually holds the tank up I figured it’s kinda important lol. I would be willing to pay someone traveling if it wasn’t far out of their way otherwise I’m sure they wouldn’t want to do that. I have not seen pictures of this plate yet and would want to before I bought it. Fabricating something might be a little tricky as I’m sure you want the tank set in there just right to avoid rubbing from either direction that would cause wear on the tank.
