Last week I was fortunate enough to jump in on a Zoom call for the Pennsylvania Outdoor Writers Association where special guest, PR Director Dan Lynch, spoke about the PTA and furbearer trapping in Pennsylvania. This virtual meeting was part of their monthly Spotlight Series. Dan did a great job expressing all of the ideals that the PTA stands for, as well as speaking to the importance of responsible furbearer management. The panel of six was genuinely interested in everything that Dan had to say and asked some very worthwhile questions.

Our previous PR Director Barry Warner left some big shoes to fill and Dan has answered that call resoundingly. Great job, Dan. We are lucky to have you representing us.

Too bad we don't have anything like that up in New York State
with the NYSTA.

Kudos to the PTA for being on the ball for Pennsylvania's trappers !!! laugh

Walleyed, are you already involved at all with the NYSTA board? If not, and you feel that this would be a valuable position that would benefit your organization and trapping as a whole, perhaps you can meet with the current board and discuss taking on a PR position. I'm sure that Dan would be a tremendous resource for you as you get established. He could potentially help you with some ideas to put trapping into the public spotlight. He may even have some contacts that he would be willing to share.

I have been a life time member of the PTA since 1982 .Joining was a wise decision We as trappers in PA have seen many improvements over those 40 years .Some of those include an otter season ,a fisher season a bobcat season the changes to the beaver trapping regulations The legalizations of the use of Cable Restraints The PTA consistently put on a first class yearly convention has the districts are also holding many local meetings and holding trapper ed courses to promote the future of trapping in PA .They have a number of first class people that are dedicated to promoting and passing on their love of trapping Thanks to all that have been a part of the success and commitment to the organization. It takes work to make the group a success AND as a great football coach once said "The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary ."
