I got the nite lite catalog today. With hide prices still low only plan on hunting 2 to 4 hours once a week to give the dog some exercise. What’s the difference 230 lumens and 550 ANSI standard lumens? Also regular led and Cree led? Thinking about getting the nite sport extreme Cree led or nite sport led II. Thoughts?

Jeez Jayme... even I had a light from the 1900s
spot light wired to a motor cycle battery in an army shoulder pouch.
Sorry I'm no help either Sounds about like my first set up.... back in the 1970s... I had a spot light from an old hand lantern (6 volt dry battery type) bolted to a construction hard hat with a 6 volt generic motorcycle battery I carried around in a carpenter leather hip side pouch with a waist belt . I used a simple lamp push on/off switch wired inline with some old chunk of extension cord. As far as the NIte Lite set ups I have a couple of the LED Nite sport models. Works great. But I hardly ever use them now a days as I use the smaller rechargeable LED lites you can buy about anywhere.

I'm sorry I can't answer your questions. I'm sure someone here will know the answers,,, but wouldn't it be cool to go old school for a few hunts with a carbide light. It's what I used first time I hunted with hounds and it was pretty old school back then 35 years ago. Lol. I used carbide when I was a kid. Man those things stunk! My dad brought home a box of wheat lights from a garage sale one day and we never looked back! Lol. Been many years but the last lights we used were the nitelights.
When you earnestly believe you can compensate for a lack of skill by doubling your efforts, there's no end to what you can't do.

Had the old red helmet/battery pack Nite Lite for many years, purchased in the mid 80s. Finally crapped out. Just picked up the Nite Lite Extreme LED Extreme 750. Need it for early morning/dark-thirty runs in the boat. Was 25% off Labor Day weekend. Looks like it will do the job nicely. Quite an upgrade from the 80s. Four settings, looks like high will be good running the boat in the dark. Anyway, for what it's worth. You might not need 750 lumens. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2023/09/full-353-188903-img_20230914_082557550.jpg)

I used to have one of those wheat lights where you had the battery on your belt. It worked great for night fishing.
My doctor suggested I start doing squats, so I moved all the beer to the bottom shelf of my fridge.

One thing I liked on the nite lite the modern leds don't have is the flicker switch. A dimmer rheostat would be nice to have as well. The LED model above does have a strobe feature. Dimmer would be nice, though it has four settings.

Too bright a light the coon won't look at you.
