Generally the same.

Wolfdog--mount that dang press on something solid so that it doesn't move.

Cam over is acceptable, I prefer to call it bottoming out.

When I started out and had limited space I mounted my press on a piece of 2x6 and would c clamp it to the kitchen table when I loaded. It never moved and was rock solid. It was quick to remove and put away.

Edit watched the video wow yes that needs mounted to something solid.

Typically called a "toggle" action.
Tremendous mechanical advantage.
Used a lot in heavy industry.
High tonnage shears presses and press brakes.

That one is cam over. Ram comes to top dead center, then then passes top dead center and is just starting to drop when the linkage forces it to a stop.

Two others I know of are the Lee Presses, which are dead stop. The ram comes up until the shell holder on top of the ram contacts the bottom of the die, where it comes to a dead stop. Basically a compression stop.

The other is the Forster co-ax, which has stops built into the casting. The linkage hits those when ram is fully extended at top of stroke....top dead center......and that is also where it comes to a dead stop.....but ram and die are not touching.

Yet another of the thousands of examples on you tube of because you can, doesn’t mean you should. I guess I feel unless you’re an expert or have decades of experience, telling other how to do things seems rather silly. Especially when dealing with things that have the potential to do fatal damage if not done properly. Hence why you can’t get a drivers license by playing video games. IMO

...... you do understand I'm ASKING right ? Literally made the video to show what I'm talking about and ASK people what they call it. How anyone with a a lick of sense could watch that three minutes and go " YEP HES SAYING THIS IS WHAT I NEED TO DO" is beyond me . Mabye the average person is even stupider then me ... and that's saying something.
Because I don't know but I think is pretty dang clear that in the FIRST 30 SEC " I'm curious what y'all call this" hence I'm asking a question.never once did is at this is what you need to do this is the best way or anything like that

So excuse me for using the tools of YouTube to better illustrate something I'm curious about in hopes of getting a better answer. Because hay I thought asking people more knowledgeable then me is what your supposed to do because as you've pointed out on about everyone of my reloading related posts you've commented on it seems I'm not super experienced I only have 10yrs max in the game. O and yes I have taken your advice of reading some loading manuals read though about ten that go from 1970 to current date. But hay I still like to ask people because I'm kinda dumb and I might misconstrue something. Because surprise some of us don't learn the best from books. I'm happy some can read a book or two and understand how to do stuff extremely well have amazing comprehension to where they don't need to ask . BUT THATS NOT ME.I know this because theirs always somone ready to tell me how much of a idiot I am. They usually don't actually help past some cookie cutter slick back have insult but you know their there to do that at least.so again sorry for trying to better understand something by asking and using a video to better ask and illustrate

So went back and watched the video, and you have it right. Go over just about any set of instructions on setting up your sizing die, and it will tell you......"raise ram to highest point, screw die in until it touches the shell holder on the ram, lower ram, screw die in 1/8 more turn, then lock it down. Then when you raise lower handle to raise ram to it's highest point, ram will "cam" over".

That assures you get full, 100% compression of the ram against the die to force the case to it's fullest extent and exactly the same every time. Basically all die instructions say to do this.

However, that bumps it what it bumps it. That may be 2 thousands or it may be 8. If you want to only bump it 1 or 2 thousands, those instructions have to be modified to raise die up so when ram is fully extended up, it only pushes case into the die as far as you want it to. For this use, seems to me the Rock Chucker is OK. Lee does not have a cam over or stop, so no good for that, and Forster is best of all. It comes to a dead stop at top dead center. On a Forster, you can bump a shoulder 1 thousands and it will be almost exactly 1 thousands every single time. And is equally as accurate seating bullets.

My guess is if Wolfie backed up his die a bit, that ram would continue on a bit more, until it comes to a full stop when linkage hits it's stop. Right now it looks to be working more like a Lee. Caming over but not as much as it could be.
