About to be on a new boat and gonna be back out in brackish type water for the most part it seems. Decided to get one of them little dock demon rods to toss in my bag. Seen people catching 30lbs catfish with them so figured it would be plenty for the hardheads and drum and what not when I'm just pitching stuff off the side of the boat on my down time.

Anyhow was getting more hooks and what not and considered getting some artificials.....but I almost never use artificial lures, Texas rigged worm or grub for bass every now and then but that's about it. So I'm kinda clueless honestly. Was thinking crappie jigs might work and their dirt cheap lots of colors and they probably look like some little edible something or other those fish see a lot and always heard them hair jigs can catch about anything but like I said artificials have never been my strong suit.Anyhow figured I'd ask what would be some good lure to pick up if imma be in brackish water just pitching and jigging off the side of a boat ?

A good choice would be a jig head with something like a Matrix shad or something similar. Remember dark water dark lure, clearer the water the more natural color.

When I'm in new water, I usually start with a leadhead and a twistertail. Everything likes those. Get a couple different weights and a couple different colors or styles.

I never fished brackish water but everywhere I have a mepps roostertail would always catch a few.

Whatever you use in fresh water. Fish are fish no matter where they live.

Jigs, with a plastic tail, bucktail, or you can freshen it up with some strip baits from fish belly, shrimp, worms, etc.
small spoons are good too,
They're fish, they eat stuff, lots of stuff will work

Spinner Baits, reasonably priced and work well everywhere, can be fished in different ways to suit the situation.

Find a white H & H spinner bait. I've used it to catch flounder, redfish, specs and black bass in the same water on the same day.
