Had to have well pulled yesterday, well driller wasn’t sure but I think this was caused by electrolysis. What say you? Only the last five feet before the pump had any damage, none was rusty on outside.

I would think electrolysis would be more uniform unless there was direct contact with an anode/cathode. Were any core samples done before the well was put in?

I occasionally get electrolysis claims, butvunless a engineer has been there I use the local branch of a company called ALD (American Leak Detection). When I do see it, it is usually a drywall screw that landed on a copper line.

I'm not familiar with what it would look like under ground but thet picture is concerning.

I have seen a lot of electrolysis on boats, and it doesn't look anything like that.

Just doing what I want now.

… need to drop a sacrificial anode down there…

… doesn’t look like electrolysis to me either.. I think more than just that area would have been affected if it was

Insert profound nonsense here

I would guess compromised galvanizing

by chance would that be where it likely would have had a pipe wrench placed on it ?

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

They use pipe wrench’s when tightening galvanized or pvc pipe, The 60’ of galvanized pipe looks good all but the bottom 5’ closest to the pump, that part should always under water. I will cut the pipe a few times someday look at the inside

I have had the same thing. 400 foot well 20 to 30 feet above the pump is where the holes were. We replaced two sections of pipe. The well tech said electrolysis.
