An US Marine F-35 fighter jet is missing after it's pilot punched out in South Carolina for some reason and the plane, apparently on auto pilot just flew away off to North Carolina, and nobody knows where it went. Built to be nearly impossible to track, it seems to work! In '88 a Russian plane did much the same thing, and flew for 500 miles.

I have heard that a pilot can eject once perhaps, but never more than twice and pass the physical to fly again. The spinal compression sustained in an ejection is just too severe. Those guys love to fly and don't eject unless they feel their life depends on getting out.
