Aldi is the only thing we all seem to agree on. It's a great store.

I personally prefer Lidl. I can get my German bread and rolls there, as well, as my German egg noodles.

I like Aldis, but quit buying their salmon because it was raised in China. I saw a documentary some time ago, where they had chicken cages suspended above their salmon tanks. Guess what the salmon were anticipating for a meal? I try not to buy anything with Chinese origins.

Aldi's current farm raised, fresh salmon comes from Norway, Russia, Scotland and Chile, not China. China didn't start raising salmon until last year and Aldi doesn't buy it from them.

Aldi may have carried frozen or canned American salmon that was processed in Chinese ships.

I seek out expired "yellow tag" steaks. They're discounted and just getting aged properly. So what if they're discolored.

A lot of their meat is sold vacuum packed,so I can just peel off the labels and put into my sous vide cooker.
Their string cheese is the equal of any that I have tried.
The frozen cream cheese jalapeño poppers and two packs of various cheese cake slices are also among our favorites.

x2
I love finding a store that has marked steaks down to half price once they finally have greyed out and started a blue tinge on the fat. It looks about like ink and its perfectly safe and delicious!

The Dillon's grocery stores in Kansas used to do that a lot and I'd fill a cart up.

The small town grocers have very little good cuts of steak on the shelf. Nobody can afford it and some buy beef from ranchers.

I'm more surprised at how many of you guys buy food from the grocery store like that ...in my mind I thought most trappers an outdoors man fend for themselves ...from our local butcher you can get beef pork an chicken in a package deal heck you can point to the one ya want an he will go out in the pen an kill it right there ya got a garden an some canning jars... wild game fish berries mushrooms whatever else ya need in the woods I would never feed that store bought food to my kid no way
