I've crossed examined a lot of malingering or just lying Plaintiffs "who are too hurt to get a job" over the years and have a lot of respect for those who tough it out and get back to work. It's a character issue. Heck, I'll advocate to pay those who have the drive and integrity to get back to work more money in a settlement--partly because the jury will respect them more too.

As for the guy you know, I don't know him. I'll take your word for it, but I assume he is not on a trapping forum pretending to be a conservative and posting about living his best physically active life while other people pay for it. Straight up losers.

Another thing that’s jacked up here is that old people barely get by on their SS and the young guns are living large. I’ve heard of people drawing less than a thousand a month a lot and a lifer with five kids, two of which they’ve had declared disabled and renting a bedroom of their house to them when they turn 18 the govt. pays for plus an extra 2,000 to be their “overseer” each month. They’re bringing in five or six thousand a month not counting free housing, food and in the winter utility help. I had one I could never beat to the mushrooms each spring. All he had to do was sit and wait for them to pop up while I was at work. 😁. I’d like to think SE Kentucky isn’t the only place this stuff is going on.

As far as the Feds is concerned if a Sr Citizen gets 1200 a month they won't even let them work part time to earn a little more. The feds will deduct it from their SS check.

If a "senior citizen" is at his full retirement age he can make all he wants without getting penalized. Under the full retirement age, he doesn't get penalized until he makes more than $21,240. After that there is a $1 deduction for for every $2 of income above $21,240.

And that's why I've worked for 51 years and still pay into Social Security while getting almost nothing from it. A little over $200 a month. Some other "needy" person is getting what I put into the program. Because I lived well below our means, had a strict savings program, and now ended up being penalized for it by the "D" party politics that punishes working hard and saving.
