Got some new alpha #2 and followed some advice to degrease in dishwasher. Did that then dipped today in a very thinned out mixture of formula 1. Lots of spotting of rust on what looks to be on top or at least showing through.

Thoughts on what to do?

Don't know why but I had the same thing happen to me when using F1 so I stopped using It.
I would just use them like they are.

Yeah I threw another coat on (first was pretty thin). Will set them as is and deal with it in the spring.

As gunny said I'd set the traps

I don't even treat my traps for the first year or two until they get a good rust patina. That makes sure when they are dyed that it holds real good.
I only wax my new traps
