I have nothing against crossbows for those that “can’t” use regular archery equipment. Just funny to see an able bodied man use one. I don’t know the specifics on this bow but maybe 3 pins for 0-100yds isn’t quite archery to me, lol. You hold it like a rifle. Pull a trigger like a rifle. And that joker is loud like a rifle. But, since she’s like my own daughter, I’ll make an exception, lol! Now if she wants to get into archery hunting then she’ll be set up with a nice compound and learn the hardships that are normally associated with archery hunting. I am super proud of her!

They had hunted this stand last week and saw this deer but couldn’t get a shot. She passed several bucks then because she’d seen this one. The wind was good last night and I told them I’d watch Ellie Jane while they went. They saw a bigger bodied buck but never could get a shot. Then they watched this one get up from his bed and work his way to them. He called me after the shot and we loaded up and headed that way. We were about to pull in the gate and he said he thought it was a good shot, but wasn’t positive.

We met up at his truck a heard the story and then went and started looking. He’d already found blood and marked it and we took the trail up from there. It was a steady flow, we never once broke stride even though it made it close to 100yds through some real thick brush. I don’t know who was more excited, me, my son, or her!

Great deer, congrats. I used a crossbow for a season after shoulder surgery years ago - it was good to have another option and kept me in the hunt. Still have it cased and stored in reserve. Have to admit though, it was good to get back to my Bowtech the following year.
We'll be in the trees tomorrow for our opener, good luck all this season.

I will likely be using a Xbow this season my shoulder is still out from tripping over sticks and old fences laying around at a new spot we hunted. I’ll let you know my thought if I do.

I learned a long time ago not to judge some activities just because I don’t do them.

Great buck, congrats.
No problem at all with anyone using an x-bow, but own it as your choice, justifying it indicates a guilty conscious. There’re people without an arm (or arms!) who still shoot vertical bows. It’s a choice. No different than using a high-tech compound (which I do) versus traditional. Or scoped rifle versus flintlock. It’s a choice, but you do you, and be proud, as long as it’s legal.
