I was just going through some old photos and came upon this picture of a tree stand where I moose hunted behind a cabin I owned.

The ladder that you have to look close to see was a 30 ft.wood extension ladder. Can you top this stand?

I love the smell of burning spruce---I love the sound of a spring time goose---I love the feel of 40 below---from my trapline I will never go!

Years ago I was moose hunting in Haines, (used to have land there, so able to draw), and got flown in way up the Chilkat with a raft.
Second day, I'm drifting by an enormous meadow and see a clump of huge spruce in the middle of the meadow with every last branch cut off the trunks at least 40' up.
I beached the raft and hiked/sloshed the 300 yards to the trees and wonder of wonders, find several sections of extention ladders lashed together dangling from a "platform" of cobled together 2x6 boards.
It was pinned to the lowest remaining branches. The ladders were tied end to end with rope, the last section about a foot off the ground.
To this day I wonder how and why.
And no, I didn't even consider climbing it.

Just doing what I want now.
