While I’m recovering from surgery my wife has been doing some nuisance trapping for a local farmer protecting his corn. She has had a decent amount of success considering it’s her first year. However after catching 5 or so of the farmers 50 barn cats in Dps yes in Dps and not using cat food all sweet baits , finding traps knocked over as well a dry spell of catching raccoon she put a trail cam and low and behold the raccoons we’re walking right past the traps. Also she got pictures of the cats messing with the traps. We had to figure out a way to get the traps away from the cats. Well this is what we came up with and she and my daughter made and what a difference it made. She’s caught at least 6 in it since putting it up. She calls it the coonstalk lol

That's brilliant! What's she using for bait?

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

she’s using fresh sweet corn, mini marshmallows and a peanut butter molasses mixture as a paste attractant

She better patent that set. Sometimes it takes a fresh set of eyes and mind. Good for her.
