I usually get the farm and fleet brand but for trucks and cars, I don’t have a tractor but have bought 2 batteries for my wife’s car which is a 2016 and haven’t bought a battery for my truck which is a 96 for 8 years.
Sure wish these newer cars came with a disconnect switch cause I’d bet money with all the computer junk on her car it has a constant battery drain somewhere.

I was using Max start from Walmart they were building a decent battery and Walmart offering a 5 year warranty on it.

now the warranty is down to a year and I won't be buying any more if I have to pay the same $ and they are all built to a price point and warrantee duration I will be looking for the longest warrantee

Walmart nor farm and fleet make batteries both are Johnson controls manufacture as are interstate from the info I could find.

there are only 3-4 companies making most auto type 12v batteries .

to blur the lines Johnson controls was bought by Brookfield partners another battery maker who also operates Clarios also a battery maker.

West Penn or Johnson may supply the Napa batteries

every one of these manufactures can make a good or less good battery , the retailer orders the specs they want and states the warrantee based on where they expect the failure to be.

not sure there is a BEST battery any more for lead acid they are in the business of selling batteries not having them last a decade.

Whatever they sell at Home Depot. But you are lucky to get 4 years out of today's lead acid batteries. I bring my in in the fall and before taking out in spring I throw the charger on it to top it off.

4 years is doing quite well these days

I haven't had anything in the last 12 years last any longer

I have heard distilled water check your levels 3 times a year and keep a battery tender charger on it if you don't use it real often and you can likely get more years.

I agree, the warranty is great, Everytime they go bad I get a free one, There is no prorating them.

1-2 years ago they did maybe some store still has some

they had been 3 replacement 5 pro rated , then 3 replace only I was getting a new battery at about every other one would do the headlights on for 10 minutes then try and start test when I was rolling up on 3 years if it failed take it in it would fail their test also
that was if it didn't leave me stuck once already before then.

I carry a jump box in each vehicle now check the charge on those spring and fall or if I have to use them. those have saved me a few times and let me help others as well

EDIT: I went and looked online says 3 years but It says one on the last two batteries i bought

correction the one I got for my truck last winter is a 2 year so maybe they only stocked the 2 year at that store

the marine I bought in June 2021 is a one year and it was very much dead and not chargeable by May 2023

definitely shortening the warrantee and you can expect a battery to last about as long as the warrantee , they got good at building just enough to not have to pay out every time but also not enough to have it last much past the warrantee.

We use a lot of batteries for fishing but also to run pumps for our maple sap collection. The interstates out perform the other brands we have used.
New modern engines create a lot of compression and it takes cranking power to turn them over to start. When in HS we used to start our John Deeres by turning the fly wheel.

If you have the room and its a diesel tractor, my son convinced me to get a semi-truck battery a few years ago. By far the best I have ever used in the Johnny Deere ................................. the mike
