We had the house resided last year and the contractor was kind enough to leave a 1/2” x 1” opening where the J channel met the LP siding- needless to say the yellow jackets found a perfect entry to a boxed-out garage window.
I sealed the entrance with a cap plug and electricians’ putty and connected a hose to the entrance, the hose is connected to a dishwasher Y vent and pickle jar. The jar is filled with sugar water and ground bee killer and I had a jar full of yellow jackets in no time, even withstanding the last two rainy days.
Today, it rained again but the little suckers breached a new entry and I had to add a makeshift mouse sticky trap to slow them down- they wouldn’t land on it so I killed two with a fly swatter and added them as decoys. Tonight, I’ll seal off the new opening and hopefully direct them to my jar trap. – retirement is awesome!

What is the going rate for a "flat", summertime yellowjacket pelt? You should have left them until winter when they were fully prime.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Sevin Dust is your friend. Had so many of them in my block foundation that I could hear a humming in my basement and they were coming into the basement around my breaker box. They were coming in from outside through a hole smaller than a pencil.

I got on here for help and I am pretty sure it was Drifter that recommended putting Sevin Dust on a "landing pad" at the hole from outside. I used a ketchup squeeze bottle to direct the Sevin Dust where it needed to go. Blew an ample mount into the hole as well. In around one day they were all gone and no more noise in the basement.

Good luck!

I have Sevin Dust- I'll give it a try.
I know I have their attention because last evening- I saw several emerging with what appeared to be brood that was severed from nest cells in an attempt to relocate it.
