You have a lot to be very thankful for. I always keep in mind is that there is always someone else that has it tougher. Thanks for your story and it is very inspiring, and I wish your family well.

I thank you for raising your grand kids , lord only knows how the system would screw them up.
I know I couldn't say no if it were my grand kids. I don't have any currently , I have no idea if I will my oldest 21 admitted the hormones are working , every time she sees a baby she is like awww babies , her mom was the same way at 21 when I married her.
that said she just broke up with her not very serious boyfriend and is like I don't even have time for one right now , she starts student teaching 4K in a week.
unfortunately her outlook on finding a good spouse is grim , an over abundance of adult boys and a real shortage of men. well my wife felt much the same way 26 years ago and then she found me.
so miracles do happen.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Dahlgren, thanks for sharing that. One of the deeper threads I've ever had the pleasure of reading on Trapperman.
(MY folks decided to have three kids....I was the sixth, born eighteen years after the first one, when both my parents had already celebrated their 46th birthdays).
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

You're a good man Roy.....your story should make people (I include myself) take stock in what we have, and to not make the little annoyances in life overwhelm us. I have a feeling those grandkidss are going to turn out fine. From one cancer survivor to another.

I know I get worn out fast just with all the questions, and the why how come but why but why, My grandparents got tired of that too. They didn't raise me, per se, but I still spent the majority of my young life at their house. But they fixed that problem, lol. They bought an encyclopedia set! So when I asked things like, "why do fireflies light up?" I'd get sent to the F volume of ol Encyclopedia Britannica. I guess Google would work the same today if you allow them internet access. If not, I bet you can find a real deal on some old encyclopedias these days lol.
Just give me one thing, that I can hold on to. To believe in this livin' is just a hard way to go.

Mother was 46 and dad was 56 when I was born. Last of 4 boys. But the homestead had grandparents house, 2 aunts and uncles had homes there. So we had a village to help raise all my cousins and my brothers and me.
you're only allowed so many sunrises... I aim to see every one of them!
