As if the Indians weren’t hard enough on our wild game herds here in the winter we now have a new tribe (northern Arapaho) that has started hunting here on October 1 with rifles. It’s archery season for the rest of us. I can see this going badly. Only problem is now we’re the ones with bows and arrows while they have the rifles!

Leave out some commod cheese, bottles of booze and cans of gold spray paint. They'll lose interest in the hunting.

Around here it’s some of the Métis that are the worst.

At least they don't get off the road to hunt. Get over the first rise and you'll pretty much have it to yourself.

As long as the Northern Arapaho will be hunting within their historic, traditional
hunting grounds for the subsistence use of their tribe, I personally don't have
any issues with it.

After all, the invasion of Native American's historical territory, and the destruction
of the buffalo herds by settlers from the east, the U.S. Army, the railroads,
and hide hunters deprived them of their traditional, dependable,
sustainable source of food & clothing.

The use of modern rifles for Indian subsistence hunting
will ensure that more elk, mule deer, etc. won't go to waste
like often happens with archery equipment due to
lost & un-recovered game by sport archery hunting enthusiasts.

I say good for the Indians.

Subsistence means for personal use & not commercial.

Just like Alaskans have both commercial & subsistence fishing.

I think we screwed the Indians for our own benefit and the treaties gave them the right to self govern and the have their traditional hunting practices and grounds.

How would you feel if you were rum off your spread and. Given the worst crap piece of land In Return, and ya had to look as some SOB on your property prospering,killing all your cattle,(like we did the buffalo) in their world while you and your family were fighting disease and starvation on the piece of rock they gave you to live on?
