I have caught a lot of weasels here in Pa but not sure if least weasels even exist here. Does anyone know if we have least weasels here. Maybe I dont know what they are. Most by a long shot are short tails 10 to 1 are shorts.......jk

Here the long tails are as big as female mink or at least seem to be. I guess I haven't weighed either specimens.

Never seen a long tail in my area. Never intentionally trapped any but have got 3 least weasels and one short tail.

Least weasels dont have the black tail tip.
We are supposed to have them here but out of many hundreds of weasels I have never caught a least weasel.

Our Long tails here in Michigan can absolutely be the size of a female mink. I have taken them that were like those shown above-approaching, and even exceeding, a foot and a half long tip to tip. I had a run-in with a rogue long tail once about 20 years ago while running Mink traps. It was scampering around in the brush at one of my culvert spots. It allowed me to blaze away at it 4-5 times with my Single Six. I blew it and it moved on. It was a Boone and Crocket long tail and I was bummed that I got weasel ague and muffed my chance at the beast. Our short tails in the northern lower exceed the long tail numbers by 3-4 to one. As far as a least Weasel......it is the only Michigan furbearer I have yet to trap. I actually have never seen one alive. My uncle's cat killed one 30 years ago and he gave it to me to mount. I never did mount it.
