Anyone know of this tannery out of Wisconsin? What are the prices per pelt? Turnaround time? Types of tanning? More tannery options seems like a good thing.

Hi Paul! That’s me!, A little back story. This is a tannery owned by my wife and I. My wife and I are trappers and about 8 or so years ago we wanted to find a way to maximize our returns from our trap line, my wife being the creative soul she is decided she really wanted to make garments and blankets out of our furs, after researching we realized tanning fees were gonna kill us. We decided we were going to do everything we can to learn to tan ourselves. After much trial and error and experimental tanning concoctions we became really really good at it. We soon had neighbors and friends of neighbors bring us everything from beavers to bears and cows. It has grown to the point that about a year ago we decided to take this as a full time business. We pride ourselves on high quality garment tans and a 45 day or less turn around time.
Pricing is listed on the website furtannery.com most tans I believe are competitive with normal market pricing. We offer a standard wall hanger style of tan, which is soft but it’s meant to be a wall hanger, it receives less fur work than our soft tan, wet tans are for taxidermy, and our soft tan is our garment tan. The thing that sets us apart I believe is that my wife is very particular about the furs we send out and she actually hand washes and brushes out every fur we get, she removes briars, ticks, and so forth and makes sure there’s no mats. We do chrome tanning as well even though it’s not listed on the website, we typically reserve this tan for just cow hides for rug work.
I would like to point out that all tans are true professional synthetic tans.
We are always available for anyone that has any questions!

You mentioned you've done bears in your post. I notice it's not on your pricing list. Do you still tan them? If you do them, I'd presume they, like lions, they are by the linear foot? Than you.

I haven't used them yet, I just heard about them this year and have heard good things. Likely be taking them some furs this coming year. Will make it much cheaper also being able to drive to them to drop off furs rather than mailing them.

One thing I would like to mention, my wife and I are hoping to have this in place before the end of the year but anyone who is a current member of any state trappers association, NTA,FTA, or sportsman’s alliance will have a 20% discount on all services we offer for as long as that person is an active member. We’re still trying to figure a few things out but we would like to see it in effect before January 1st. Awesome, will you accept local drop offs i'm assuming?
