Deka's are great. If you're needing storage, get two 6volt golf cart batts and hook in series, I believe. Way more storage than one 12V.

#1 My go-to marine battery is Interstate.
#2 Interstate
#3 Interstate

On any battery, make sure they are charged at the end of the season, and disconnect a battery terminal; I prefer to disconnect the negative.
BTW, I run ten different outboards, the batteries on many of them go through subzero winters. Mine last for years and years, I just had an Interstate go bad after 12 years.

You can do the math on price/ length of time a set last. I hear stories about 2-3 years on ever starts. Mine are 5 years old and going strong. BUT I PLUG MINE UP EVERY TIME I use them in fact my habit is back in garage plug in onboard charger then I unhook the boat . I’m a strong believer in keeping them fully charged

Interstate batteries have some quality issues the last couple years. On my equipment and trucks I am seeing failure rates higher than I can tolorate. Seems that 1 in 5 batteries will have a dead cell within 30 days. Warantee is good, but down time costs $$. Not many battery manufacturers but many many brand labels.

you're only allowed so many sunrises... I aim to see every one of them!

I have had a lot of trouble with interstate deep cycles the last couple years, went to all wal mart 29’s and 31’s, 4 in one boat and 2 in the other, problem solved.

This is what I use on all my boats- I ran Optima Bluetops when my daughter worked for Johnson Controls- they lasted the same amount of time as Everstarts or less and are manufactured by JCI anyway.

Just get a regular battery and incase it so it can't get wet.

WI DNR requires a battery box or that it be secured in a hatch

marine batteries aren't some special water proof works under water battery

just a regular or deep cycle battery with lugs rather than posts

the battery in your car can get hosed off when you clean the terminals , it gets wet when you go through a puddle , more so than a battery in your boat in a box should

most are vented like a car battery

They're supposed to be built with heavier components to take the pounding and other abuse you do to a boat....but are they really?, lol
