Southern Snares bought Sleepy Creek. Seems like last time this was brought up Swampwolf had the lowdown on the status for them. Might shoot him a pm or wait as I'm sure he'll be along shortly.

I've not used the 11s but these Modified #3s are both a a bobcat paw magnet and a bobcat paw black hole.

I liked their 4.5 longs. Not that they were excellent, but they fit the niche of doing just good enough at a reasonable price.

I would buy some more if they come available again. The remaining ones I have are now rusted to the point of being unusable. I have been setting them in the ocean tide line for fourteen seasons.

Oh man I was gonna be impressed. I knew a guy up in Kansas who could set 330s by hand. He made it look easy and I never challenged him to an arm wrestling match.

Sorry to disappoint ya. I do all my other big longs over my knee. The jaw pivot and spring eye size does not allow me to make it happen. I have read on here that others are able to.
I don’t have time to be messing around when running a beach line to be wrestling with a stupid chunk of steel. I pin them springs with a nail in preparation of setting and bring a pair of setters when checking.

Seems like I remember the high price of quality steel being the reason that Sleepy Creek/Southern Snares was holding off on new production.

I talked to the lady (didn't get her name) from Southern snares at the convention today. She said that Sleepy Creeks are only made from American steel. The supplier also supplies BMW with their steel. They will only sell her steel after BMW is taken care of, and they are having a hard time keeping BMW supplied as it is. They are still trying to get it worked out.
