Target varmint style for me due to the grip and the high comb . Hard to find something that fits good and is comfortable in about anything else for me out the box. What about eveyone elese ?

I'm an old-school, Monte Carlo stock, type of guy.

I prefer a wood stock on all long guns. Really like a high gloss finish in good walnut but high gloss doesnt lend itself well to pushing bushes and briars. Have a couple with synthetic stock but almost always grab the wood stock.

It depends on what I want it for . There are a lot of different uses and a lot of different stocks to accommodate those needs. I would hate a target style heavy stock on a rifle I am making out to still hunt. My Mod 94 winchester is no good for shooting bench rest matches with. But it is a joy to carry in the woods and gets the job it was meant to do done. I just planted my M1A into an archangel adjustable stock that feels very comfortable to shoot but a bear to carry around for a day. So you are asking a question that can not be answered without some detail of what its intended use is. How long is a piece of string exactly ??

Seriously, I like most all styles, the type fits the role, kind of like the rifles action.

The Kraut kind of summed it up, IMO.

Unless weight is a factor, I favor wood for feel and looks.

Not a black rifle guy.

Checkered walnut for me. I have a couple of plastic guns but they are just tools and I am not attached to them.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Disclaimer. Most of my time with a rifle stock is short lived. Range time is more for confirmation than because I have time of money to burn.
Plastic, wood, don’t matter a whole lot. I tend to go with synthetic due to the high humidity here. I have fitted a couple bolt rifles with family history up in chassis stocks lately. Kinda digging that scene, lately.

My pipe dream mauser actioned rifle would be housed in a full length Bavarian hog backed bit of walnut.

Nicely figured walnut, classic lines, no Monte Carlo or other cheek-piece.

Don't like artificial stocks--though I own a few--or stocks with holes in them.

Highly figured walnut is the worst idea ever for a hunting or a target rifle. But if one spends most of their time inside counting money with their soft hands, I guess that a pretty piece of furniture would be appealing to that kind of guy.
