I have three Grandkids that range from 1o to 12 years of age. Next weekend I am taking them to a friends Farm for Pheasant Grouse squirrel and Rabbits. It should be a blast. They will be using my 20 gauges and today we shot skeet most of the Afternoon. It will be fun to get back in touch with some of the Farmers I grew up with and hunted with. They have kids and Grandkids of their own so it should be a blast.

God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.

Small game has always been my favorite, my son and I hunt with black powder ( 20 gauge smoothbore flintlock ) and my daughter uses a 22. Just ordered a traditions crocket 32 kit to build with the kids, hopefully I can find some #11 caps someday crazy

Dog faced pony soldier and proud of it!

Got beagles and rather run them than deer hunt. Most kids now days kill a deer or turkey and have no idea how much more fun small game is.

Now ol Clay Creech had his 6 yo grandson out chasing squirrels before he ever let him try for deer and the boy showed he was up to the task. That's the way to raise a hunter!

We took a buddy's youngest kid (7) hunting grouse last weekend. He shot his first grouse with a 22 in the morning and a second with the "Big" 410 that afternoon. He was in hog heaven. We saw 22 birds and could have been filled out by lunch but last weekend was all about him. The woodcock were thick as heck here today so I may have to try to hit one tomorrow.

I have nothing clever to put here.

As a member of a local Pheasants Forever chapter every fall We would get about 10 kids that had never hunted pheasants and took them to a regulated shooting grounds We would spend the morning hours going over safety rules .and would follow that up with so shooting of clay birds After lunch we divided the groups up with 2 young hunters a dog trainer/guide and adult with each youngster . .The guide was in charge o the group and would have say in how each shooting situation was handled .Safety was always priority # 1 Over the time we where able to hold the event we had about 120 to 150 first time bird hunters take part in our annual hunt . Small game hunting never gets old And young kids can learn how to be safe reasonable hunters . And get in on some action packed times victor#1 Black powder small game hunting would have to be really cool

WI DNR does a day with pheasants forever at the Magnolia game farm , used to take my son

they have stations you start at a station and go around all day last time we went when he was still young enough

trap shoot

pheasant hunt 2 birds if you hit them both

game cleaning where you cleaned your birds if you got any if not demo on some other birds

game cooking you didn't cook your own bird they had stuff cooking and you sampled and got recipes to give you ideas at home

fire department , did some great fire demos where the kids got to put out fires with expired fire extinguishers this is great practice

archery shoot

22rifle shoot

fishing demo

one year they had lay out binds and a duck hunting demo

on year they had a muzzle loader shoot

check around maybe they run them in other areas also , it was a good time.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
