Don’t get locked in here on the name and title. It was Monday. The next generation that comes along will rewrite the history and purpose of that day to something according to their notions about the past, just as soon as they’ve gotten all the fame and restitution that can be garnered by the current conscientious victims.

So, who were the inhabitants of the Western Hemisphere when Columbus landed? Wy.wolfer only scratched the surface. In the pre-Columbian days, tribes regularly, and ruthlessly attacked each other competing for total domination. Well, they met their match with European weapons, and spent the next half dozen centuries whining about it.

While I don't agree with changing Columbus Day to anything honoring indigenous people; there probably should have never been a Columbus Day to begin with.

The landing of those ships was a huge milestone, not much different from Marco Polo's travels. Should it be commemorated? how?

I'd love to see the reaction if the suggestion was made to blow up Crazy Horse's stone statue in Custer S.D. or tear down Martin Luther King's statue's, all 50 of them spread throughout the country. Let's get rid of all statues that might possibly offend anybody. Of course I'm being facetious, but Democrats have let the far left go completely nuts!

The ones they tore down don't offend the populace, just a small minority. They aren't really offended either. They just want to feel important.

No not a small minorit.
The actors doing the deed maybe but the complacency of the people toward it speaks otherwise.
No one steps up to stop it.
If you tried to tear down Luther KIng plenty would stop you.
