The XPR has a locking bolt. I would not buy a new rifle without that feature.

So do you have to take the rifle off safe to open the bolt like the old Remingtons?

No. Some models have a 3 position safety. I think the XPR has a button if I’m not mistaken.

Curious to hear more about the trigger pull on this new rifle.
I am a big fan of 308s. They aren't flat shooting, but if you know your dope, they tend to hit right where you intend them to and with a good wallop.
I shot a white-tail with one at 440 yards. With the gun zeroed at 100 yards, I had to hold 2.25 deer high. Put that buck in a pile right where it stood.
On paper at 100 yards, this gun will put the first 2 shots in the same hole, while the third shot will be high and right by 3/8".
One of these days I need to try it again, but wait for a while before the 3rd shot to allow the barrel to cool to see if I can get a 3 shot, one hole group.

Good choice & calibre. Not sure how it is in the states, but it’s nice to have a gun where you can go to a gas station to buy ammo if you need.

The trigger pull is adjustable. It is shown starting on page 19. It is set at 3.5 pounds at the factory.

Nothing like a new rifle. Be sure to tell us how it shoots, Paul.

I’ve watched 308s take out moose up here in Alaska a number of times. Good buy

Our units had accurized M14s for shooting bomblets that may be laying around after an airfield attack. Those were some mighty accurate rifles. For larger munitions, we had Barretts.

Those Model 100s are cool rifles.

I'd like to get an 88 to match mine.

With that Marlin 336, what do you need with another rifle? LOL

I was able to get rid of three guns that I'd never use and got one that I will. For me the 308 can accurately reach out a bit farther than the 30-30. I love that 30-30 for 100 yard shots though.

Just before Momma died she bought me the rifle of my choice

I picked a ruger in 338 federal

The 338 federal is nothing but a 308 necked up to 338

A higher ballistic coefficient and a memory of my 338 win

made my mind up. Excellent round the 308 is, especially in a short action

it is hard to argue with 180gr at 2625fps for effective .

that is my average velocity for my reloads.

zero is at 35 and 200 yards that makes it 2 inches low at the muzzle , 2 inches high at 100 yards and 3 inches low at 250

not more than 2 up or 2 down from 0 to around 230 yards make for a lot of easy aim and shoot on game.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

That was a joke. It retains probably 95% of the original factory finish, has never had a scope on it and is first year production for 308.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Right,I thought you meant it was beat up from use and needed some maintenance, lol.
My guns tend to get beat up bouncing around.
