Good choice on the XPR. Many of these new rifles have such an easy bolt lift that high grass or slight contact will lift the bolt and if the rifle is on your shoulder the bolt opens and cartridge is ejected.
The XPR has a locking bolt. I would not buy a new rifle without that feature. So do you have to take the rifle off safe to open the bolt like the old Remingtons? No. Some models have a 3 position safety. I think the XPR has a button if I’m not mistaken.

Good choice & calibre. Not sure how it is in the states, but it’s nice to have a gun where you can go to a gas station to buy ammo if you need.

Nothing like a new rifle. Be sure to tell us how it shoots, Paul.

308 is my choice I have a few of them. Had to have one after using the M14. It will do everything tou need in the lower 48. Our units had accurized M14s for shooting bomblets that may be laying around after an airfield attack. Those were some mighty accurate rifles. For larger munitions, we had Barretts.

With that Marlin 336, what do you need with another rifle? LOL

With that Marlin 336, what do you need with another rifle? LOL I was able to get rid of three guns that I'd never use and got one that I will. For me the 308 can accurately reach out a bit farther than the 30-30. I love that 30-30 for 100 yard shots though.

Nice! My model 70 in 308 was made in 1953 but it has that boring walnut stock. I may have to spray paint it black or camo. Why dont you re finish it with a nice Jacobean stain.

it is hard to argue with 180gr at 2625fps for effective .
that is my average velocity for my reloads.
zero is at 35 and 200 yards that makes it 2 inches low at the muzzle , 2 inches high at 100 yards and 3 inches low at 250
not more than 2 up or 2 down from 0 to around 230 yards make for a lot of easy aim and shoot on game.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

It retains probably 95% of the original factory finish, has never had a scope on it and is first year production for 308.
I have nothing clever to put here.
