They don’t make useable trucks anymore that a guy can easily work out of easily unless you’re 7 foot tall.

Trucks today are huge. You need a step ladder to get into the bed. I loved my old 87 mighty max, but I ended up selling it cheap to a friend that hit a deer with his commuter car and needed something quick.

My 77 F150 has an 8 foot bed, and I lowered it 2", so it's pretty east to get into.

2004 S10

although since Dodge marketed their Dakota as a mid size truck to not compete with the small trucks I guess technically it would be the S10

Yep, and the long bed was only available with the regular cab.

I have an 88 s10 short bed as my little garden truck , my son ran me a bail back from the farm a large rectangular bail with it and it is a bed load and it wasn't even a wet bail just a very old dried out one for the garden.

he gets back with it and says well I can see why there aren't many long beds left , too easy to overload the short bed , every farmer around would have worked a long bead to death.

they were a popular farm truck here easy to work out of fixing fence or feeding bails especially the 4wd long beds

basically the side by side before side by sides

the chevy luv was another worked to death little truck

I stack mine with split firewood level with the cab then drive it right to the shed , very handy

I have the 5 speed

Not true, both my '89 and '01 S-10's had the extended cab and the 7' long bed. I'll never buy another truck without the extended cab and a long bed with a liner.

Interesting. I had never seen that combo. That would be a great truck.

Dont need a big long bed, just use a bed extender when hauling lots of stuff.
Better than a trailer.

I've come to the conclusion a 6 ft. bed is serviceable, but longer is better. The 5 ft bed is pert near worthless.

It's very easy to overload small trucks with small beds a longer bed would be worse. My little ranger is really struggling when I cut wood. My sr5 Toyota was 2x the truck .

The tacomas long bed is 73.7 inches on the gen 2 (2005-2015) and gen 3 (2016-present). There is no option for 84 inch bed on any of the tacomas. I spent extra time shopping for the 4-door with a long box (73.7") and it was worth the wait....cant imagine dealing with the short bed.
