I have tried Merril's they were ok , I tried keens they were OK but every pair has lasted less time now over the last 2-3 years , the most recent pair purchased in April made it to August before the bottoms started falling off. they are not even that worn soles or uppers

I am ready to spend the coin if I can find a boot that is light weigh and lasts

I have redwings with safety toes for when needed but I find about 5-6 hours and my feet hurt in them.

oh and the other catch I need a 15EE or 15 wide

preferably in a 6 inch

Just bought these for playing on the river. But they've grown on me for every day wear. Didn't think I could do flat soles after years of boots but heel pain in heeled boots had me willing to try different.

Now these are built on the jungle boot concept of boots are either waterproof sweat traps or accept wet feet and allow them to drain freely. These do drain well and I've even pushed them into the beaver swamps.

Haven't had them longterm so can't say how they'll hold up but so far so good.

Try Hoffman's Boots in Kellogg Idaho. On my second pair. I wear mine everyday and just had the first pair resoled. They went 2 years and don't leak and my feet don't hurt. Comfy. I've tried Danner ,red Wing, the list goes on.all leaked or wore out in about a year, These are the best boots I've had, 6" mountain lights I'm pretty sure.

I’ve tried several myself and the best ones I found that fit my work needs was THOROGOOD boots . They lasted around 3 years probably the best boot I’ve had on my feet . I work construction sometimes in a plant putting in new lines and then might be out doing a slab somewhere . What I’m saying is I put them through the wringer and they held up . I’m currently wearing a pair of brunt that I wanted to try so far they have held up but the break in period was one of the worst times I’ve had .

I hear you about the Keens. dang good boot for the price, comfortable and waterproof. My last two pair the soles separated prematurely. I was (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman). I wrote the company and complained, told them for the cost of the boots they better start using a better quality glue. I glued the soles back on myself and got a lot more life out of them.

My current pair are over a year old and so far the soles are intact. Maybe I got lucky or maybe enough folks complained and they started using better glue.

I wear them daily with only a few exceptions.

I've been wearing Oboz for the past 3-4 years. I have no complaints. They fit me well and have much better arch support than most of the popular brands. I have three pair and none of them have lost a stitch. The original pair has almost no tread left, but they are still in one piece.

Jk custom boots I finally broke down and did it yes they were $700 but until you try them you can’t say they are not worth it I was sick of buying a new pair every year my brother talked me into them 4 years in still solid they are bulletproof very very happy with the $700 purchase you can customize your order with how much insulation and so forth

I got a pair sometime last summer. I like them. More pricey than many but not over the top. Probably more boot than needed in the flat lands of Midwest but comfortable and keep my ankles from aching

I’ve got a pair of 511 boots that are super light and made to get wet & drain. Never tried em in the water. Are you supposed to wear a certain type of sock in those?

Wool is best. That's why the army issues wool for year round wear. A light wool sock for summer.
Durable and dries well. Barring wool a polyester or polypropylene would be next best.

Avoid cotton as it gets wet and stays wet and more prone to blister when wet.

You want a sock that'll dry. The idea of the vents is more than just draining you get air flow with each step acting as a pump to move water and air. That's why the old jungle boots were issued with the saran insoles that looked like layers of plastic mesh to get air under the sole of the foot.

As soon as I can locate some of those insoles I'll be swapping them into these boots.

I've tried quite a number of boots, and have settled on Lowa as the best for my feet.

I got a pair of Keens before my Washington trip and liked them so much I came back and bought another pair when these wear out.
If I can get 2-3 years out of a pair I’m satisfied. These boots are advertised as waterproof and they performed exactly as advertised. As soon as cooler weather gets here I’ll be back in them. They’re a LOT more comfortable than my snake boots. They are extremely light compared to other boots I had and over a 2 week period in the PNW I averaged almost 7 miles a day and NO blisters. The year before in another pair of boots I was taping my feet after the 3rd day with blisters on top of blisters.

Same. I have over 2 years out of a pair and wore them daily for most months. I think the waterproof membrane may have plugged up or something as they no longer breathe as well. FAR superior to junk Keens imo.

Sizing: "1/2 size smaller and one size Wider" theory Proved-TRUE in these boots. So if I wore 9.5 in normal shoes, I would buy 9 WIDE. This advice was given to me by Allen Edmonds for dress shoes and it has worked marvelously over the years. Most people have no idea they're wearing the wrong sized shoe.

I recently bought a pair of Danner Element boots at Scheels. They are an inch or two higher than those boots pictured here.
I’m breaking them in daily for the western hunting and hiking ahead. I am amazed at how little they weigh plus they are supposed to be waterproof.
I think I paid in the 180 range for them. Nice feel great fit but everyone’s feet differ. I’ve not worked them hard in the field yet.
