I trapped a skunk this past week and I’m not sure if I’m going to taxi it or soft tan it
In the meantime I triple bagged it in ziplocks and froze it. Now my freezer stinks. I thought triple bagging it would keep the smell in but apparently not

Any suggestions on how to store him until I make a decision on mounting or soft tanning?

Get a roll of vacuum sealer bags. Cut to length and use your wife's iron to seal one end. Insert skunk, bags and all. Seal the other end with your iron. When sealing, put a layer of brown paper bag over the area to be sealed to prevent any plastic from sticking to the wife's iron.

The good news is if your freezer already smells like skunk you will never know if what u try next is leaking odor. Win/ win situation from here on out grin

My advise is skin it , leave feet on so you have option to taxi. Wash hide in the de-skunking formulation. Then freeze. I wouldn't put a skunk in a freezer with the scent pods intact.

keep a separate freezer for fur etc.
Freezers are cheap and cheap to run.

Skunk essence will move through plastic. Best deal would be to skin the skunk then freeze the hide. Leave the head and feet in if you might be mounting it later.
If still wanting to keep it whole take the scent glands out wash it in the peroxide, baking soda, soap scent remover then freeze it.

Remove the pods first is my advice it’s Quick easy and clean if you do it right no smell if you do it wrong try again with another skunk.
