Can't think of a store that's not going to self checkout. Around here Walmarts start at $15 an hour .Their groceries are a little high not as bad as Krogers but still high. Although they still sell more than anyone else.

[quote=Posco]I did some after-hours HVAC work at Walmart some years back. They had a trusted employee watching the back door making sure no one was making off with the merchandise. They were primarily worried about their own employees. [/quote

I’ve done 2 Sam’s remolded we always had to hire a security guard for the doors no problem with thief from the construction employees because they always checked what went in and what came out . But they did have one of their employees take advantage of us being there and he got caught stealing 5 cameras in a week and tried to put the blame on the contractors.

I think they pay $18 Walmart here Iowa. I don't like go thru checkout an always do self checkout . To many times they dbl hit scan code an overcharge .get receipt check lot at door. Over half time . I found out that new hires clear back 11 months ago. We're get $3 bucks hr more me. At job I quit. I guess there nothing I can do about it. Wish I had all that money in pocket right now . Does Walmart have benifits like decent ins group policy or vacation or holidays ? I spent last go on 6 yrs with none that . What a waste

might be a local problem, can tell you thats not the case in the ones i work in. Course you usually couldnt get out of the back of the stores without going out of the fire doors and triggering an alarm.

Some stores have more theft issues than others. The stores Im in dont have a lot of security cased stuff. Other stores it seems like everything is locked up.

I see you don't have an actual response.

There are too many other good choices around here. HEB, Aldis in the city, Brookshire Bros in tiny little towns, not to mention the German, Polish, and Czech butcher shops that are far superior to any chain grocery store.

I find it easy to limit my biz with Walmart and do an online order and curbside pickup like ADC does when I have to.

Notice how the stands to put your bags of groceries on at the self checkout are tiny-that's on purpose. If it's a pain to buy a lot of stuff at once, you're more likely to buy just a few items and return to the store more often. And, seeing as how most people always make a few impulse purchases at the store, more trips to the store=more money spent at the store. I like having a cashier simply because the conveyors and bagging stations are bigger, so I can buy a weeks worth of groceries at a time.

Some walmarts have the belted(full table) checkout lanes for those with a lot of stuff. If I buy a lot, I just bag things and stick em back in the cart as I go.

Dave, my daughter works full time as Wally World here, she gets dental, eye glass and health insurance. I don't know what it costs her. She also gets paid holidays and vacation. I think she's making 20 bucks an hour.

I have a sister and nephew who work there as well. Seems like a good place to be employed. They get discounts on things they buy there as well.

Jamie, I all but refuse to set foot in one. Maybe 4 times a year out of laziness or necessity in a town that doesn't have any other options.

Frankly can't stand the place and I don't believe they are cheaper on average.
